    Hi all,

i had a new string today & when i got the racquet, i noticed the grommets were placed somehow like this. Is this ok?

hmmm, it should not be a problem, but i would check the other 'end' of the grommet, see if there are any sharp edges that 'cuts' into the string.

    It will be fine DonnyGan

Normally stringers will rotate your grommets 45 to 90 degrees to maximize use...

If the grommet is spliced in half then I might be a bit concerned, but otherwise they are pretty tough, and do their job well.

However I noticed in recent years the newer YY products all have specialized grommets.
These different grommet packs cost quite a bit more money than standard grommets, if purchased directly through YY.
If an OEM manufacturer can be found, then it costs less, and you can replace them at will.

I'm well aware of alpha's selection of grommets thanks :)
    I wasn't looking for any.
I get my grommet packs by 1000 pieces/pack and ordered nanospeed/armortech grommet packs from YY a few years ago to stock up. so I'm set for a while.

I don't think alpha carry YY flat grommets specifically designed for the newer series racquets anyhow...

I tried stuffing the regular A, B, C, D, E sizes into the nano speed grommet holes before.. but if you give it a try yourself you will see what I mean.
Hence my decision to load up on the specific grommets to fit properly.

Also the fact I'm anal retentive/obssessive compulsive doesn't help much either :D:D:D

the ringer will have turned the grommets to stop the string rubbing on the same part of the gromment and wearing it down...this will be fine and could save you having to get it restrung sooner
