That's the upper limit on the tensioner? what is the range anyways?

Please elaborate more on that question.

The WISE has a very noticeably loud and visible after pulls - after the tensioner sends out beeping sound to indicate that the string is under the indicated tension. On the other hand, the Victor or its equivalents give no visible signs of after pulls and sound.

The machine do go up to 40 lbs momentarily if I set the cross string to 34 lbs and push the knot button. I think there is a way to disable the tension limiter.

Gonna bump up and old thread. Wondering how Pete and MJ are enjoying they're machines here. Has Pete got the clamp thing all figured out well now?

The clamps are great! You just have to go by feel - tighten it just so that they clamp reasonably tight against the strings. Comes with practice .

So do you still do minor adjustments before every time you string?

Panda missed this post way back. How do you mean good to 38lbs. max? You mean any higher and it doesn't want to pull?

Also, you mentioned the Wise appears to pull harder and/or tighter. Please remember, the Wise is originally designed for tennis so it can pull up to 86.0 lbs. So, 38lbs. is very easy for the Wise.

That means the max tension setting is 37 lbs (software issue).

The WISE pulls harder due to its 0.1 increment and sensitivity.

was at a local gym yesterday and they have one of these in the open so i played around with it.

i think that is a later model as there are more chromed pieces than RSX and Pete's. the gym opened up in the past year or so they must have acquired it more recently.

what a beautiful piece of machinery. rivals the ES5Protech in craftmanship and overall feel. the control is not as light as ES5Protech but just as smooth.

i should stop touching these toys. very dangerous.

the two of them uses different motors. the ES5Pro/tech uses a servo motor which is continuous adjustment of tension. the motor is connected via a worm gear which translates the rotational force of the motor to linear. the motor axle is actually visible at the end of the tensioner and you can see it continuous adjusting the tension as the string gets stretched.

the WISE goes a different route and uses a stepper motor. a stepper motor has discrete positions instead of continuous and therefore we hear the sudden mechanical sound. the control for stepper is easier to engineer and maybe that's how WISE is managed to be cheaper. however, it also means that it is limited to discrete position and therefore has less actual tension precision despite the precise adjustment to 0.1lbs.

Kwun, did you see the ES5 Pro Tech do continuous tensioning after the tensioner stops?

yes. i can make a video next time. but it keeps tensioning.

afterall that's what it means by "constant pull". otherwise, if it stops, then it will be a lockout like a crank.

How much does it cost for the Victor C-7030?

Planning my mid-life crisis . I think it's easier to get this than a Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle .
