Having started badminton last summer, I recently used to play with low tensions but now I got a new (secondhand) racquet (Yonex Nanospeed 7000) strung at 24 lbs. I now enjoy more power and MUCH MORE precision in all of my shots but I break my strings really fast mostly, I think, due to mishits:

1st time: Secondhand bg-80 strung at 24 lbs (came with racquet)
    Broke in two weeks :crying:
2nd time: bg-70 pro strung at 26 lbs
Broke after about fifteen minutes of drills :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
3rd time: bg-80 strung at 24 lbs (TODAY)
    Broke after a week :crying::crying::crying:

    Note: I play everyday

Even though my smashes with higher tension now attract a lot more attention with the sound (love the sound:D) and my net shots and back hand EVERYTHING has improved, I can't live with all this string breaking

Stringing where I live costs 20 dollars :(:(

Before when I used my Yonex Iso-067 w/ BG-65 at an unknown tension (20lb maybe?). I would always mishit but the string would never break.

Now I always look at my racquet string after every hit even during a game to make sure that the string did not snap. It's painful!!

I'm taking my racquet in for stringing tonight. What should I string it as?
Any advice? I would like to not have to worry about my string during every single game.

    PLEASE HELP!!

where did the string break? if it is breaking right next to the frame, and you had a mishit there, then it is completely expected esp at higher tension. the best thing to do is to learn not to mishit.

There is something wrong either with your frame/grommets, or your mishit thing.

Nevertheles, you can try nbg95 or bg65ti, they are two of the most durable string from yonex.

i use both but usually nylons (high school)
i don't think this is a factor since i broke string using feather shuttles too

as for the condition of the grommets.. they should be okay. i'm pretty sure the strings break because i mishit

this might sound silly but do you have any advice for how i can train to not mishit? thanks

    okay. thanks for posting!!
however, i had always thought that regular bg65 plus bg70 has much better durability than bg65ti. maybe im wrong :p:p heck

nylon shuttle tends to wear more on the string.
after using nylon, switch to feather, wear & tear already there, thus, you will break the string during feather shuttle play.

    mishit?
maintain eye-contact everytime you hit the shuttle.

Try to be focus every time you hit the bird.
And do not slice to much on the game.
One more thing, keep practice :D:D

    haha
    i found the culprit
    it's the stringer!!:D:D:D:D

i recently changed stringers when stringing and now I feel increased repulsion and an ineffable "better feeling" using the exact same string and tension. i don't think it is difference in tension since the string before and the string now with a different stringer at same settings exhibit the same pitch of sound when flicked against.

now that i've changed stringers, i will be able to enjoy the game more and save more money while i'm at it :p:p

in the past a single mishit would probably kill the racquet string. now i enjoy a mishit every now and then and NO PROBLEM

however, the strings i had in the past may not have broken as fast if i did not mishit so my technique is to be blamed as well :crying::crying::crying:

this just goes to show that some stringers are better than others. i switched from a private stringer to a commercial stringer (at a club) and the string feels much better ;)
