    Hi,

I have searched a great deal about this but could not find much information about this topic :

    Stress Relief Bar.

    What is it?

A stress relief bar - going by the name :D , is a bar which transfers the pressure while stringing.

I have found out it is mainly used in Japan because stringers their only have 2pt machines - and stringing high is dangerous without one.

I jusr wanted to ask if anyone new , how to make one ( preferably not ) or where to buy one from :D.

    Thankyou

You do not need it unless you are stringing at high tension (>25x28 lb) on a 2 pt machine. It is very hard to find one now. May be I will build some from my design for the evil empire and sell it later...

Yes you could say that. I think it kind of changes the 2pt into a 4pt :D

Hmm yes I realised this:D , may I ask ( don't want to be rude though)
    what you actually do silentheart?

You have so much knowledge about everything in stringing and klippermate asked you to make them a manual :D.

Sorry if you consider this as rude

That's an interesting question, I wonder if Grandmaster SH will answer.

Also, krisss, did you get my PM?

when i read the thread title I was thinking you were talking about food or something naughty. :p:p:p

Although I guess candy bar would be a stress relief bar for some.............

    Question... for the GrandMasters

Wasn't there some thread a while back, where the Stringway/Laserfibre machine designer stating that these bars put more stress on the racquet frame than actually help it?

I can totally understand and see the importance of using a loadspreader, or even better having a clampdown mount at the tip & throat of the racquet.

Is it really necessary to have this doing anything below 30lbs on anything other than a 2point mount machine?

I've strung on 2pt, and 6pt machines, and from dropweight, crack-lockout, and even on electronic constant pull machines throughout the years.

I haven't ever had the need for the bar, nor has anyone come back to me saying that their racquet collapsed.
Nor have my own frames ever collapsed in the head (except for a few mishits :p)

Clinton policy: "Don't ask, don't tell".
MI6 policy: I can tell you, but I have to kill you.
Evil Empire Policy: Don't even think about it.
Kilpper Policy: I do not exist.

For Kelvin's question: Are you still dating Hobbs?
Anyway, the issue with cross bar is that depend on what kind of 2 pt machine we are talking about here. If you have 2 pt hold down like M140, cross bar does help because the force do transfer from the 3 and 9 o'clock positions to head and throat where they are secured. For the 2 pt suspension like Eagnas Hawk 15, (although Eagnas claim it is a hold down machine. I consider it as suspension because there is almost no supports after 2nd grommet of each side.) it put a lot of stress on one side (3 or 9 o'clock) because there is nothing to restrict movement at 1:30 and 4:40 position. So, yes, what Stringway rep said is true for about 1/2 of 2pt machine out there.
I hope this answers the question.

For the Eagnas hawk 15, one can try out ILoveDude's modification.

    Or

Get Easy-3 parts from Eagnas. Does Eagnas sell individual parts? I have a "no" feeling. I do see clamps for sell.

That works, thanks GrandMaster SH & GrandMaster Pete

I was thinking along similar lines... the crossbar would not be needed on all 2points, just needed confirmation.

I will stick to 6pt... less headache for me :p

    In other news...
Someone called PETA on me, and subsequently Hobbes was set free to roam the jungles again. :p

Okay, the bean counter ate too much beans. He is suffering from his own gaseous release. Yes, he has a headache and can not figure out the jokes between Greatest GrandMaster SH & Kelvin (both masters are up to their trade :D).

If I contact Eagnas which parts should I Request to modify my Hawk 15?

I think ILD's modifications are a lot beyond my skills:(

So pretty much the conclusion is - even if i did get a stress relief bar for my hawk 15 - it wouldn't help because it is "technically" a suspension ?

Your Hawk 15? You have a Hawk 15? Or was that just speaking figuratively (was that the right word)?

:D well when I say mine - I mean my friends but he lives near me - and he said I could use it as much as I like for free :D.

I still want to get my own machine though :D.

But the thing is he is happy with the Hawk15 because he only strings from 23-25lbs , but if I could get a stress relief bar then I could string higher on my rackets :D

    *Breaths massive sigh of relief*

I wouldn't want to string at all on the Hawk 15 from the looks of the reviews.
