About 10 points max... I don't think any amateur could be more than 30!

35 points means that you can take 7-8 points in every game

I'd say this is quite an ambitious project...because the difference are just so ungodly big....

We'll start from the top, Lin Dan (or lee cong wei, or Taufik who cares?) are the absolute best on he circuit. He played Joachim person on this years AE09, playing a good match. Beating Persson 21-13 21-6. So you can quite clearly see Joachim is just not up to his level.
But then, looking at Joachim's records, he's actually a very good player, beating a lot of his danish compatriots, like Peter Mikkelsen or Emil Vind.
Then, looking at those Danish men, they actually reach quite far on the international challenger circuits...
Havign competed in my first international challenger last week, and getting kicked out in the first round against a German fellow (21-14 21-18, I though I did quite well). And then on the bottom of this ladder we have me, beating some Dutch players on he A level...

Are you starting to see the picture being painted here? the absolute impossibility to compare yourself to the best of today (possibly ever)?

OK, so we have an upper bound of 100. How far below 0 can we go?

This is so true - badminton players skills are really underated - even from people who pay attention to players. The Spectrum is massive and differences are vast!

Jerby - you must be a very good player - are you in the top 728? :D

well, it can't be below 0, that would technically mean that LD would beat you 25-0 or something.
so it has to be a positive number.
i reckon mine would be 100/21, because i think he may serve into the net or something and gift me a point, once a rally gets going, there's no way i'd win the point.

    I think I'm in the range of 3-5 :D.

Probably because I may be able to use my trick shots to get a few points from LD , and his error :D.

    Heck no :p
So far I've only had two international results... One is a junior tournament (good enough to land me number 66 at the european junior circuit last year)
the other was just last week:p so maybe it'll update this week or so:eek:

Even my national ranking is rubbish, I'm number 97 or so, quite a bit lower than most of the people I play with (have some old results from a lower division dragging my average down)

LOL, Smash vs. Jerry. I bet that'd be a pretty good match-up IMO.

I want you, Smash master and Jerby to put videos up so I can see how good you are - I need to know! :D

Well LD made JP look like a 10 at the AE, he wasn't even trying. JP is actually one of the top 10, and most here are nowhere near the top 500. So if JP can make a rank 100 person look like a 10/100, then on court, we would be like a 0/0000001/100 vs LD..

Well, to be honest I don't think one should draw to extensive conclusions based on one match.. remember JP lost against Peter Mikkelsen in Danish championships with 21-13,21-16 for example...

Also I have seen many weak players get many points from LD (especially in first sets), wherehes is a tad lazy.. So the 100 points thing also really is very much dependent on how serius LD would take the scoring :)

Also I bet I can get some extra points if I can get some selected korean line judges :p

I think you have to be korean to get the benefits :D

But playing all out, LD can pretty much beat anybody in the world, and definately slaughter all of us.

    nah it doesn't really
if i was two times better than someone, i could probably win that person 11-0
skill is not completely proportional to the number of point you can get although it certainly is related

i say if lin dan was 100, i would be around 15-25
    that's because i'm really bad :crying::crying::crying:
