Me and my younger brother are planning a roadtrip to Vancouver somewhere in early to mid may and am wondering any BC'ers wanna meet and play badminton. We are from Fresno, CA., which there isn't much badminton, but I think we are decent players. We taught ourselves badminton (YouTube is our coach), and think its a good opportunity to take a "badminton roadtrip."
It will be awesome if we can meet-up and play badminton since we have read so many post regarding BC'ers badminton experienced in different regiions/country.

This will be our longest drive to play badminton. We have been putting this on hold for awhile, so its about time to test how much of a badminton fanatics we are.

I am pretty sure your guys will not be disappointed with all the badminton gyms, which some even open 24 hours. ;) Be careful about the "torture session", though. :p

    Hi LazyBuddy,

I read your trip to Vancouver, and it was awesome. I am sure we can handle the "torture session," the longest we played was I think, about 5-6 hours straight. My younger brother visitted Vancouver a few times and played
their, he said the level is pretty high plus the great food and people. At that time
we didn't know of badmintoncentral but I am sure some BC'ers might have meet or played with him.

Hey, you should plan your trip to coincide in Bellevue Washington for the Washington State Open. I think it runs from May 15-17. checkout the northwest badminton association website

Did I hear someone mention food? I'm in!
If you are interested, you might coincide with one of our stringfests.
(Beware of the high tension stringer who brings his own "portable space heater")

Keep posting your plans as you get details finalized so we can figure out which days and times match yours.

I check the WA State Open and at this moment those are the date that we are looking at in scheduling our trip. Stringfest?

So far this is the detail I have:
-Drive up to WA and play in the WA State Open
-Spend sometimes in WA to visit relatives and look
    for a place to crash
-After tournament head straight to Vancouver and
    get school in badminton
    -Eat and BS
    -Badminton
    -Eat and more BS

So far its looking good about the trip. We are planning to leave Fresno early friday(15), like really early about 4 am and will drive non-stop to Vancouver and will spend one night in Vancouver. Afterward head down to WA the following day for the tourney and chill in WA for the night. Then its back to Vancouver. The whole duration of the trip will be just 5 days, so it will be tiring, but who cares as long as theres badminton, food and cool people its all good.

So far its me and my younger brother, one of our friends is if-fy. And if-fy friends go, its in the trunk he goes, sorry, back seats are for badminton gears.

We are planning to play in A and B I don't know if thats too much for us since we are self taught, but I think it will be a great experience.

Wow, that sounds like a pretty tough drive! To go all the way up to Hongcouver.. I mean Vancouver for Friday night, then drive back down into Washington State on Sat? THEN back to Vancouver???

I would suggest, get to WA State for Friday late afternoon May 15th for the Open Mix (request a partner).

Get to know everybody, especially the crazy Canucks! Food & fun Fri nite!

Play some more on Sat, MORE food & fun PART-2 Sat nite.

Play in the semis & finals on Sun afternoon, dinner at Outbacks (yummo), SPEEEED up to Vancouver Sun nite, then welcome to paradise! :D:D:D:D

    Cheers!

We were looking at the start time and think it will be exhuasting after the drive, since its a 14 plus hours of driving, however we are considering it as one of the option. I am not sure about the requesting of a partner and how it works. But I think your ideas sounds great though.

I don't know about semis/final that is somewhat far reach. The only thing we are sure is, is we just want to play badminton and have fun.

15Love, did you get my PM?

We could clone an earlier T-shirt that says....

"The 98th British Columbia Canadian Washington Open"......

....I have an on-going joke with the organizer, the moment we have 51% of the entries are from BC (or better yet, when all the A-Flight winners are from BC), the name will be changed from the WA State Open to the BC WA Open!!! :D:D:D:D

    Cheers!

Yup, I'm still waiting for more than 51% entries from BC,
You'll need to bring over 100 BC players to come down !!!
This year may be last year the BC have a chance to win
all A-Flight events, hehe. Coach Raju will recover from
his knee surgery and we'll have a new female coach later
    this year.

Actually, I thought VRC is trying to organize a bigger group
    than Break-My-String group...

It does not make sense for you to drive from Seattle to Vancouver and back to Seattle for the tournament.

Just stop over on Friday, play in the tournament
Friday/Saturday/Sunday and hang out with all the
Washington and BC players, there're players
    from California also.

As far as requesting partners wise, we'll see what we can do.
Female mixed partners may be hard to come by though.

Wow, how many groups from Vancouver are playing?

I agree with clinton, however it will just be tiring after the drive, since
its a 14 hours drive from Fresno. Therefore we don't think its possible to
just jump in and play right away. We are however looking at leaving thursday
after work also. We are certain that we are playing in the WA State Open,
and this trip is basically center around badminton in Vancouver.

    Is anybody playing in B-flight?
