I've played badminton for about 1 year and a half and just about a month ago, my right shoulder started to hurt a LOT. This was after i kept clearing, smashing, and all the other shots. All the shots were equally used and i didn't smash as much. The way i hold my racket is correct (told by a couple of coaches) and my form is alright (coaches again). i have a friend where i can score at least 10-15 every game, but after the hurt shoulder incident, i can barely score 5 points on him. My gameplay has been reduced as a beginner and i am very depressed so i feel like quitting. Please help me and why this is happening to me? :crying::crying::crying:
Dude, when my car starts making scary sounds, I don't pray, curse or check the internet.....I take it to the mechanic. Please see a doctor or physiotherapist so you can hopefully avoid serious damage. Best of luck.
As fidget said....if the pain is persisting and quite extensive why would you not go to a doctor or physician......start thinking logical people.
i just rest for a week. there isn't much serious damage done, you've just overused your arm. Unless its some sort of dislocation then i'd be seriously worried. my shoulder is hurting too but i rested it and its good to go again.
I have the same problem, I guess. My shoulder would be in pain when I try to over-power my smashes or if I swing and miss. (Hard Swing, No Contact, Wild Arms). I'd rest it for a week and it would be fine, until I start playing again. Suggestions?
bro man up and stop crying aye... either u can toughen up or you can be a pussy any not play badminton at all, i may sound harsh but its what u need to do, i did this to my should (while playing for a can of coke) i won the coke but it wasnt worth it cos i didnt stop when i pulled my shoulder, it only got worse, so now 2 weeks on its mostly better i just need to warm up properly and warm my shoulder properly before i hit you need to rest for a week minimum,
Yeah? I had the same problem sort of problem. It took me over half a year to get over it. Rest of 1 week is nothing.
i somehow felt that after a year of playing, and by that time i have increase my frequency of play to 4 to 5 times a week. Read some of the topics here in BC and some excerxises help me espcially the strenthening of the rotator/rotor cuff. Now i dont feel that pain anymore. first time i apply the exercises, my shoulder joints have some crackling sounds..now not so anymore and the pain is longer there and still continuing the exercises.
Have a rest and when your recovered make sure you begin some form of basic shoulder strengthening excersises. Pushups work fine. If you have some weight of around 5kgs then do Shoulder extensions. (hold the weight in your hand and extend your arm straight up to the sky. etc etc) Lots of things to do but you just need to strengthen your shoulder a bit more. If pain persists seek medical advice
Some questions: - How much do you play? - Do you warmup properly before a match? - Do you do stretching exercises? - If you do stretching, how much? - Where exactly does it hurt? Shoulder injury is one of the most common injuries in badminton. I think there is an inflammation in your shoulder. It needs rest, and anti-inflammation drugs twice a day for two weeks. After couple of days during the resting, you should start stretching the muscles of your shoulder. After the rest, you should begin strengthening your shoulder.
An online diagnosis is useless. You need to see a specialist / physio. Your doctor can prescribe rest and anti-inflammatory drugs and refer you to a physio who will help you with your recuperation. There will be certain exercises to avoid and others which will help get your shoulder back into a balanced state. Rest now, dont carry on with an undiagnosed problem, you could do serious harm to your enjoyment of the sport in the future.
People say, "no pain, no gain" but in badminton, any pain should be reported. The most minor aching can turn into a long term effect on the body. Go to see your doctor as soon as possible about this problem.
isit the front part of the shoulder?i had this problem last time.happaned when i did not stretch my chest and shoulder enough and overused it.must warm it up properly an slowly it will go away
even after u had resolved your ailment, u should look into get some coaching to hit the shuttle correctly. With correct technique, it does not hurt the shoulder, even after 1000 strokes per day.
dude go see some1. my shoulder hurt for a bit too once. like even when i sleep i cant sleep on the shoulder. i went to see a massage physio guy and all he did was give it a massage for less than 5 mins now it feels much better. it still gets sore after 2 hours playing but it would go away much quicker. i think my shoulder is at 80-90% now where as before it was probs 50%
it could be the way you swing too. your arm should swing more in a circular motion. i used to have this pain too but went away as soon as i started to realize the way i swing was causing it. i was just throwing my arm outward and extending my elbow. i started to swing more and no more pain the next day.
thanks for all your input. i went to a massage specialist (tukang urut) and he fixed my shoulder in 5 mins. he said there was something not in the right place. fixed it straight away. he said it was probably because i overstretched when hitting the shuttle.
