Hi folks I'm new to the wonderful sport of badminton as well as to the forums.

I live in a very small town in NE Washington called Metaline Falls. I play badminton twice a week at our local high school gym. We have around 12 players on a daily basis. Im hunting for my first racquet so if you have any suggestions let me know.:D

    Welcome ohthevoices.
What voices are you hearing?:) Since you are a writer, perhaps you have a muse or two who give you ideas.
What sort of stuff do you write? Perhaps an action-love-drama based around a badminton club? That would be sure to make it to Oprah's list.:D

I was reading this and I was like what are you talking about
Then I realized the username of the thread starter is "ohthevoices"

    About the first racquet.
Just buy one from academy or something.
After a couple of months, when you kinda know your style, strengths and weaknesses, and if you are sticking with badminton, then we can recommend a racquet to you.

    Have fun playing badminton.
    It's the best.

    Badminton

Oh I am sticking with Badminton as I am already addicted. As for purchasing one from acadamy, what is that? Im not familiar with the term.

I was thinking of just purchasing a wilson match point racquet. ive used one recently. It was nothing special, and kind of light but it was strung tight and I liked that about it.

    Oops sorry.
Academy is short for Academy Sports and Outdoors.
It's a sports store (obviously), but I just looked it up and it's only located in southern and southeastern US. I didn't know that.
Yeah you can go for a wilson match point racquet.
    Nothing wrong with that.

    Welcome..

..to BCDF, ohthevoices!:)..It's really great to read someone in as remotely isolated place in NE Washington is picking up & enjoying baddy. 12 people playing is not a bad number. Any pics or stories to share with us all of the baddy activities in your community?
As for the racket to choose, you can hover on over to the Market Places or Bou & Sell sub-forums. Also, you can look for advices in the Equipments sub-forum.
Anyway, keep coming back & hope you'll stick around baddy & enjoy this forum!;)
