    Bay Area Badminton Map

Locations of all badminton gyms (dedicated, community center, high school, and college) in the Bay Area.

Dedicated gyms have been added to the map.
Still adding community centers, high schools, and colleges.

Any help would be great on other local places would be great. If they don't have a website, include the schedule for that place.

Very neat, and ambitious, project! Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose behind adding high school/college gyms? Virtually every school in the bay area has a badminton team, but they're generally limited to students and not to the general public

Joseph, is it possible to have the default to zoom to the bay area in a appropriate scale? right now when i click the link, it shows all of USA.

    i stickied it.

(oh wait, now it works with the zooming. so very strange.)

Back when there were no dedicated gyms, I resorted to playing at high school open gyms on the weekends. For those who don't have the money to shell out $5+ at dedicated gyms, high school and college gyms are actually great places since they range in drop-in price between $0 - $3.

And I was hoping for high school/college gyms that are open to the general public. SJSU is one of those schools that is actually open to everyone. You just need to check the online schedule to make sure the gym is open on that day. And there's a high school in Morgan Hill that's open to everyone on Sundays (free). The coach over there posted a thread about 2 weeks ago.

The problem I see with this is that the high school / college gyms are based around the school year.

    just to add...

almaden community center's tuesday night badminton is from 5-9 and is separated into two time slots: 5-7 and 7-9. you must sign up for 5 weeks at a time to be guaranteed a spot in one of the two time slots. drop-in fee is $5, and even then you aren't guaranteed a spot, and drop-in only applies to one of the time slots. max occupancy for any time slot is 12 guaranteed spots, 2 drop-ins.

at camden community center, drop-in is also $5 i believe, but people are never there and the nets are very poorly set up. there's no official height marker on the poles and they sag towards the middle. i've been there three times and no one was ever really there.

evergreen valley college also has drop-in badminton fridays from 6-10pm for $5 but the court system is very poorly regulated.

campbell community center has drop-in and it's pretty great. i haven't been there in a couple months, so i don't know if the same people go but it's never really crowded. all the info you'd need is here http://www.ci.campbell.ca.us/Recreation/fitness/dropin.htm

It would be great, if more people contributed to this thread or to the map. If you want to add in your own places, just send me a pm and I'll add you as a contributor.

Hi everyone, this information is great. I am new in town and am looking for a badminton club to goto on a regular basis. Unfortunately, i dont have a car. I am at de anza and stevens creek in cupertino. It seems that sunnyvale middle school and Sunnyvale indoor sports center would be my best bet. Although, since im new i would definitely prefer a drop in style club (vs individual court rental).

Can someone provide me details of how these two clubs run or if there are any alternatives for my particular situation, it would be greatly appreciated!

I know De Anza has a badminton club, but I don't know if they have open gym. I would email to find out and then report back so I can update with the new info.
