Nice... the courts are rubberised. Used to play there on sunday afternoon.

Now coaching and no time to join them. The place is a little run down now. Even the golf driving range is gone the last time I went there with my student. ;)

For a club, they shd have water cooler and shower places there.

I dropped by the Arena Country Club last night to watch some of the matches.

There are eight teams participating in this open tournament which include Arena, Yee Tee, Hong Kah, Police, Temasek Polytecnic amongst others. A number of foreign coaches and ex-nationals are playing eg. Aman, Dicky, Lin Mu, Xiaobai, Dickson, Bai Song, Swee Hau, Aaron etc. I also spotted two SBA sparring partners.

Today's (Thursday) preliminary round matches start at 7.30pm and the semi-finals will be held on Friday 7.30pm.

The 3rd-4th placing/finals will start at 2.30pm/3.30pm respectively this Sunday.

For those interested in going down to Arena Country Club, you can take the MRT to Joo Koon MRT station which is within walking distance of Arena. The badminton courts are located above Burger King.

Arena fielded 3 teams, 2 of which are represented by foreign coaches/players and the 3rd team consists of local competitive players. The other 'local' team which put up a good fight was Temasek Polytechnic who have two ex-national players Swee Hau and Aaron.

I watched an interesting match which Temasek Poly's ex-national player Swee Hau came back from 1 game down to defeat the SBA sparring partner representing Arena Team 1.

As expected, the two Arena 'foreign' teams made it to the semi-finals and one semi-final slot was taken up by Temasek Poly. Not sure about the remaining slot but would expect the two Arena 'foreign' teams to make it to the finals on Sunday.

After the matches ended last night, there was some time left before the hall was closed and I watched Lin Mu play two singles games. His footwork is very good and he was literally 'walking' in the court. His strokes are deceptive too.

Also had the opportunity to watch Dickson (Sports School coach)/Liu Yi (SBA sparring partner) spar against Erwin/Ricky and Bai Song/Du Peng. Does anyone know who is Du Peng?
