the area around the knuckles of my 2 finger next to the thumb (the middle and index finger) some of my aches went away if I left it a while but this one has been persisting for 2 months now it starts hurting whenever i swing the racket, i guess thats the part of my hand the weight of the racket presses on the most? I am starting to get a bit worried and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this sort of thing.. cheers
Hi, I suffer from this problem aswell in my little finger. I'm going to get it checked up - if i overcome the pain i will sureley post it up here to help you .
Me too for 2 months now. I can still feel some pain if i press back at a spot on my palm behind my 3rd knuckle to bent it back. Initially i could not even do a push up! Is this what you are experiencing too syahn9988? For me it is more like Tendonitis, but it has got so much better now. Think you better seek some doctor advice since you feel pain still when you swing your racket after 2 month. see http://symptomchecker.about.com/od/man/arms-hands/Diagnoses/tendonitis.htm
Pain is very common in badminton but if you don't take it seriously, it could become an uncommon problem and become a pain in the [profane].
well I really hope its not arthritus, tendonitis? well i can do push ups without feeling pain in push ups i feel the pressure nearer to the base of our hands near the wrist. The pain i feel is a bit more up the hand near the knuckles. I find that it hurts during the first 10 minutes of play and then it seems to go away. and then comes back next time i play
After it goes away, it's probably just warm up. You're not warmed up and not ready. And when your hand cools down, you have to heat it up again. It's just like a machine. Starts slow, but efficient when ready. Well, that's just my guess!
Just to update, my hand had not fully recover and i was using my jumper strap on my wrist to test if it helps. It make a huge difference for me, the pain is no longer there when i smash! Guess it restrict the movement and strengthen my wrist. So i got a wrist wrap for play yesterday and it was such a joy to play full power again. And i did not feel any discomfort at my wrist today which i normally do. Also get one with the verco strap that is big and strong, mine came off many times when wet(between games i took out during rest) and i had it exchange for a better verco one.
thanks for all your advice i think i understand a little bit better why my hand hurts its partly because I am not fully warmed up but i think its mostly my technique having read about relaxing my grip and then suddenly tighening it for maximum impact during contact with shuttle I done it to an extent that sort of deformed my hand into an unnatural position everytime. I just keep more power in my hand now before I grip even harder to smash.
More to take note Dear All, Have a correct racket is important too If your racket is too heavy or it does not suit u, injures may occur too A light racket may also not suit u, it depend on your play But usually injuries mainly occur for those who use a heavy racket Of course that is my personal point of view. Warm up and technique do play important part too
Heavy racket + heavy head + wrong technique = serious hand injury. Got my injury from doing fast tap drop using wrist mostly from back of court( bad bad me).
Here are some basic tips to avoid injury: 1.) learn the proper technique to hit because thats very important. Its like learning how to kick a soccer ball and if you kick it wrong, you could roll an ankle or soemthing. 2.) If your experiencing problems like tendentious, go see a doctor immediately depending on how sever it is. Just to make sure that you don't break any bones or pull a muscle quite badly. 3.) theres really no point in going to physio because they would just tell you to ice it and strengthen it. You can go to physio and ask for advice because you can do it all by yourself and its free =] 4.) stretch! important key to badminton because it improves fitness and flexibility on court. Also it avoids injuries.
power without control is nothing. So just get the correct technique and don't slack. When tired, rest a little.
About wrist pain I used to have wrist pain specially during initial warmup. six month ago I started use tape and wrap around wrist for about one and half turn. Now the pain went away and I am back to normal playing without the tape. Try it see if that help.
i got this prob sometimes too.think its becos i train with squash racket a lot and it stresses the knuckle joints and i always crack my knuckes which is actually bad
bro, i personally think that it all depends on luck! if u r unlucky on that day u will injured urself n vis versa. it got nothing to do with racket weight , warmup bla blah blah
