Hello everyone, I need a recommendation in rackets for a friend. My friends racket broke after a collision between his Mp22 light, and his double partners Arc10. Seeing how his birthday was coming up, I was planning to get him a new racket as his gift. So I was wondering if the Arc7 or the AT700 would be a better choice for him. He's a doubles players who likes to smash whenever possible, but when he can't, likes net plays and drives. His level is intermediate, with about two years experience playing about twice a week. Money isn't really a problem, just wanna get him something good for him
ARC7. should be close to his MP-22. however, if he expresses a sentiment for an extremely head heavy racket. the AT700 should do fine.
jymbalaya is right on. The Arc7 would be a lot closer to his MP22 whilst the AT700 would fit his description of smashing more. You could also think about getting him an AT500. I know production has stopped but if you do find anyone/stores selling it, it's sort of like a mix between those two rackets. Smack dab in the middle. It's head heavy but extremely light. It's not has head heavy as the AT700 allowing it to have better net drops but just enough weight in the head to drive and smash strong and fast.
Hmmm... alright, thanks for the info! I'll try and see if I can get a hold on the AT500. If not, I'll go for the Arc7 Just as a side note, do you know if the new Armortec 50, which supposedly replaces the Armortec 500, is any good? If I can't find any 500's, and the 50 is just as good, then I'll go for that one
IMO, the At500 would be a nice upgrade frm the mp22 because its stiffer and headheavier. I wouldn't say the AT500 is between the AT700 and ARC7. I personally own both the AT700 (3u) and ARC7(3u). Ive never tried the MP22 but im assuming its a decent weight , slightly head heavy and medium flex shaft. So What im trying to say is if your friend likes having more control than power, go with the at500 ( AT700 for more power) or arc7 for more control than power. It may depend on what your friends plays too. Id say the AT700 is great for singles and mixed doubles, for doubles its a little slow compared to the ARc 7, On the other hand, the arc7 is an awesome racket for doubles because its light and has alot of control however it lacks power for mixed and especially singles. Hope this has been insightful for you =)
Arc7 is good for a replacement of MP22LT. AT700 is a different racquet. Otherwise, try AT600, lighter and less head-heavy.
If I'm not mistaken Lee Wan Wah using AT 700 and my friends state player also used. Btw, I'm also using AT700 for doubles.
I play only doubles. i used cab9s almost all my 'active' period before moved on to some super light craps (not nice to mention here those brands). got myself an at700 2months ago. wow....its so difficult to wield. personally no so nice to play doubles. the most difficult part is to 'recover' from executing smash.
