^^KKK on the floor..^^ ..i saw the clip and once again KKK was seen defending whilst sitting on the floor..
Why is Canada not competing in the Sudirman Cup? Other than the US the Americas are absent. Instead we see new emerging minnows like Iceland, Mongolia, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Bulagaria, and the Czech Republic. Some of these newcomers have actually embarrassed the more established badminton countries like Singapore and the US. Looks like badminton in the Americas is fading away and may even be dying.
That's his trademark shot, huh? what's your thought? did he train actually to do that particular shot??
yes, i have this question on my mind earlier too though. WHY is canada not in this sudirman cup? anyone can explain it to me?? is it because of lag of players or funds?
^^Calling all the Canadien BCers..^^ ..our in-house Canadien brothas and sistahs, cooler, madbad might know the reason(s)?? I know in 2007 they were placed in Group 3. ..i don't know if he actually trained to do those shots or if it's all for show. But it seems every time i see a clip of KKK, at least there's always an instance of him defending in that position.
No govt funding/incentive, no Datukship (oops, I take it back), here players have to raise funds to support their training, no endorsement $$$, baddy is backyard sport, no interest from TV/public (the recent Canadian Open attracted only 40 spectators), cannot make a living from pro baddy, etc...how can that attract anyone here to pursue pro baddy, that pretty much explains we have the same old bunch of players representing Canada...even Anna Rice has to play in DEN to find competitive training and make some $$$...a few years ago, we have Julien Denyse (40 yrs old then) representing Canadian in WS and was the #1 WS player in Canada...what do you expect us to field a team of old warriors?Sending a team to Sudirman or even TC/UC, well, who is paying the freight, the govt - forget it
Every sport that does not do well will always blame the government for lack of funds. There are other 3r world countries that are doing very well without government funds. Perhaps the Canadian government wants their badminton players to show their class first before the government will show them the money. The other way around could be money down the drain.
There are so many sports played in the world and no country except for CHN adn USA can fund the majority of them. Canada is a big country with a small population, public funding for sports are channelled towards sports that Canada has a chance of winning, sports that are popular here and with media exposure like ice hockey, skiing, winter sports. Baddy is an Asian sport, like recreational backyard sport here, same for ping pong. Players cannot make $$$ like LD or LCW playing baddy. Therefore, for Canadian players to show their class first before granted public funding, we can wait a long, long time. And you are correct, the other way around could be money down the drain.
