I was wondering, in relation to this thread:http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1161388#post1161388 Lets say i was to take off my factory grip, there is some adhesive still on the wood of the handle. Along with this adhesive, some of the "fluff" from the padding of the original factory grip also came off. Is there any way, or any substance which i can use to take off this stuff without doing damage to the wood in preparation for another grip? Also, what kind of after market grip would be suitable to replace a factory grip?
That's a good question but the Yonex factory grip is never really put on tight/with glue and so I've never come across a sticky problem.
why do you want to bother with removing the adhesive? after you take it off, you will either cover it with towel or replacment grip, both of which will attach with double sided sticky tape anyway.
There is this product called Goo Gone that removes gum, stickers, etc. Take a piece of cloth and dab it with some Goo Gone and then rub the adhesive off the wood. Any similar products may work.
apply some alcohol on the wood, they will come off. Alcohol evaporates pretty fast too, so it's does dampen the wood too much. another way is using the finest grade of sand paper to sand it off.
Oh the scotch tape idea sounds good, ill try some of these methods thanks =D As well, will an overgrip be sufficient just to put on the grip?
If you're already taking off the overgrip, perhaps you should try out a towel grip. Use saran wrap to cover the wood and then just put the towel grip over.
Oh, well! It was just a suggestion but if you do use overgrips, try to put a replacement grip first then the overgrip unless you like the wood feel of a small racket handle.
WD40 is a water replacement fluid good for removing rust on metal. it's also a mild lubricant, slightly oil-based. once the oil is absorbed into the wood, you might lose the tackiness to let the grip stick to the wood or even if you would like to apply electrical wire over the wood. Are you sure about it?
