YY released new shuttlecocks, Aero Club 07/05/03. Not sure if anyone have tried them. Here are a few pictures I took comparing AS-50. Tried Aero Club 07, more like RSL No 1, flight is fine, durability is acceptable, price is too high. Aero Club 05 looks like RSL No 5. Haven't tried it yet.

    Oh, Yes, the price, AS-50 $26, Aero 07 $21, 05 $18.
Pics are transferred from another site I posted, original are not by my hand.

looks like a trend that manufacturers are using lower grade feathers for their budget models. the AC-05 has non-symmetrical feathers that came from not the middle of the wing, but instead from the outer or inner part of the wing. they are lower quality feather but also sold at lower price.

$18/tube seems very high for 2nd grade feather.

AC07 is goose, 05 is duck.
What I heard is that YY want to inrease price. Instead increasing the AS series, they just creat a new label with new price tag.

This sounds stupid, but how can you tell if the birdie "looks like RSL No 5"?

I have played several tubes of RSL No1, No2 and No5. The appearance of AC-05 is more like RSL No5. I tried AC-05 today, absolute very bad for $18, won't even last for half of double game, durability seems even worse than RSL No.5.

I would have said the F90 as they are the tournament grade Yonex shuttle. However, the use of really fresh AS-50s is also a possibility.

I could be wrong, I heard from someone who was watching the tournament, Denmark team was practicing with AS-50. Whether the AS-50 is the same as we normally get from retailer or not, it could be another story. F90 (as well as other F series) are only available in Japanese web site/catalog, so it might be only for Japanese market (except F90 that I heard are not for retail). Outside of Japan, it is AS series, and now this AC ones.

Let me ask my colleague. His friend got a tube of F90 just for trial so he might know how the tube looks like.

couple friends of mine brought back some AC07 from taiwan. the clubs in taiwan use YY AS30 or AS40 for club plays and AS50 for tournements if they use YY shuttles and of course other brand as well. but the retailer told them YY is no longer making AS40 and the YY rep. is pushing the AC series to all YY stores. the rep. said that all the AC series are duck feather but just like goose feathers, there are also different grades for duck feathers as well.

so i played with AC07 for the first time yesterday. my impression is that it plays much like AS35 (haha i made it up) becuase i feel the speed, flight pattern and durability is between AS30 and AS40, well more close to AS40. the most impressive part is that i can't tell it is with duck feather.has anyone else tried it and would like to hear your feed back.

i have couple friends will be going back to taiwan and i have already asked them to bring more back because it cost around $15 per tube in taiwan.

    Ac05

Well, my opponents have brought into the game AC05 a couple of times. Not impressive shuttle at all. For intermediate players, who tend to mishit a lot, this in not a good shuttle.
Durability is below average, also the shuttle slows down considerably after 2-3 rallies.
Also the price here is not very impressive :D 20$(USD) a dozen.
