Watching him play at Susirman Cup 2009. This guy is so docile, like Taufik, yet consistent and deadly with all his shots:eek:. My guess is we'll be seeing more of him.

    Cooler,
That was 2008, and I, still yet have to watch that. Have you seen him these last few days? I mean, Sudirman.

Ohw, finally we have a thread about Simon. Taking Taufik's position in INA Sudirman Cup Team, I am sure he's a way better than Simon in 2008 Singapore Open, cooler. Greatness is being ready for the chance, give him one.

Well, at least until semifinal round of Sudirman Cup 2009, he is the only one who managed to force Lin Dan to play 3 sets:D not even LCW, or perhaps Lin Dan was totally off during that game?:p

well..its true he has not showing what INA expect from MS (backing SDK and replacing TH position)..alson because he had been ill two times when participating in a tournament..but i personally have high hopes for him..watching him play is more interesting than watching SDK's slow and lazy play..(according to me)

lets hope that he can do better in the near Super Series and World Championship

ps: it is only him that can force LD to play rubber..check head to head of two player..

^^You should check his tournaments' results..^^

..other than his title at Chinese Taipei Open GP and a couple of runner-up finishes, last yr, he hasn't done nothing much. And time is running out for him.
It's good & dandy if he can force LD to a rubber game, but he needs to turn that rubber-game effort into a win, esp. against top players.

Yup, it reminds me of BCL aka Mr Runner Ups, I think BCL only started to win the SS title just last year after actively involve in the games for yearssss despite all the hypes about him.
Hope Simon will start to win the SS titles this year otherwise he will be the the next Mr Runner ups or even worse:D

I'd love to be proven totally wrong..

..but personally, and from what i've seen of him and his results, i think he's reached his max potential. Sorry, but he is what he is. How long should we give him time & a chance?? Taufik when he was Simon's age has already won the OG titles, INA Open titles, AE MS Final appearance, and abt to win the WC. Maybe he'll finally show his true potential once LinDan and LCW retire? But doubt that'll happen soon, at least not for the next 3 yrs. At the most, he'll be similar to that of Sony Kuncoro and i'm sure you guys know what has Sony achieved.
    - As for Lu Yi comparison, yes, he & Simon started about the same time, and both also have only won 2 titles in their career. Lu Yi will most likely, at max., be similar to BCL.
    - As for Simon being similar to BCL aka Mr. Runner-Ups, i don't think he also qualifies for that. Maybe a Mr. Quarter-finalist??..

I agree with your gut feelings, ctjcad.
There are some players you'd like to have a beer with--eg. Taufik, LinDan.
And others you can picture having a nice tea with --eg Sony, Simon.

It is apparent which ones have the feisty winning spirit.
