First of all, congradulation to Chn. They are well deserved the victory.

At second thought, what if The Krorean use their second MD to share Lee YD's heavy load, Lee might be better off in the first XD by using all his energy and effort? The first game really sets the tone for the whole match.

    What do you think?

noway. Their second MD is no match for China's Cai/Fu. XD followed by MS and MD is the best order for the Korean. They thought they could win two of them and indeed they were close to win two of them. This is what happens when you don't have enough talents in your team.

PSH's role was not to win LD but to push the MS game longer for LYD to rest. However, that's not the case. So LYD was quite obvious to be in "slow" mode and became a bull eyes for the Chinese pair.

Yeah, not enough talents. If they managed to win the XD, it would have put less pressure on Korea MD in their game.

Their second MD pairing would not have been strong enough...but that wouldn't have mattered IF they had won the XD...however, they'd STILL would've had to field LHJ in WD, or else you're thinking of that they should also field their SECOND WD, in which case LHJ could've also went all out...then you should consider that they'd give up their chance to be competitive in MD and WD possibly...definately a case of not enough talents...the only reason they're so strong in doubles is because of LYD and LHJ...

In theory, KOR may have a better chance, but that's only in theory.

Even before the match start, CHN pretty much booked 2 points from MS and WS. So, KOR players can make 0 mistakes, as any lost will send the team home. On the other hand, CHN players have better error margin. Even if 1 fail, the other can pick up the ground afterward.

CHN used to be on the receiving end in the late 90's and earlier 2000, as they do not have enough MD fire power. That causes them TC and SC a few times. Their other players were under pressure of "can not lose". Well other teams were enjoying "free points"...

First of all, CHN is far and away the best team for this kind of competition. It would take a monumental upset for CHN to lose.

Having said that, KOR does have a chance. It hinges on KOR's winning all three doubles matches.

No matter how you arrange the players or match order, it's all over after the first KOR doubles loss. Even a two-hour break between matches would not have helped KOR to win. It may produce a closer score but not a different winner of the Sudirman Cup.

Korea had the best chance against China among all teams. Unfortunately China is all fired up and i do agree that LYD was a spent force. But still all praise to him that he manage to played 2 great matches.

    It is what it is..

    - KORs used their best lineup & pairs to play vs. CHN. I really doubt their 2nd MD (Hwang Ji Man & Han Sang Hoon) pair would've made any difference; probably would lose the match in straight games.
    - Concur, the first (XD) match set the tone for the whole tie.

China is unbeatable in Sudirman Cup since 2005 mainly because Sudirman Cup is a competition for breadth. In order to compete and win in Sudirman Cup, a country need to be strong in all events, singles and doubles, men and women.

INA lost because their women team is weak.
DEN lost because their women team is weak (and injuries)
MAS lost because their women team is weak.
KOR lost because their singles is weak.

China excelled at not only having very balanced team with singles/doubles, men/women, they are also very very strong.

while it was a monumental feat for LYD to play the role of both doubles, it is unreasonable to expect him to support the whole team and make up for their lack of good singles player. it will take years of work for all the national teams to build up the same broad strength as China.

i don't think anyone will take the sudirman cup off china's hands for a while to come yet.

uber cup is almost impossible, sudirman cup slightly less so.
the thomas cup is the only one where china is slightly vulnerable.
    every so slightly .... :)

that's why it would be more interesting to have CHN against the rest of the world, like ryder's cup in golf. may be extend to 9 matches over 2 days like the old TC format.

i think if we had a best of 15, 3 in each category for CHN vs rest of the world, CHN might still win it.

CHN would only really be weak in the MD department, and maybe 3rd XD.
but MS, WS and WD would still be able to deliver the points.

Lets say even if the whole world combine their best against China Sudirman Cup, China still had the best chance to win this cup.

    Example:

ZB/ YY VS Kor LYD/ LHJ. The China pair won at final.

LD VS LCW from Mas. LD will win.

WYH VS Zhou Mi or TIne. Still WYH had better chance to win.

CY/FHF VS Any strong MD. Still 50:50 chance.

DJ / YY VS Kor LKW/LHJ. DJ/YY will win.

Probably World All Stars will get 1 or 2 points from China Sudirman Cup but maybe China also can win 3-0 against rest of the world.

    .
    Agree. :):):)

Here we are talking about CHN vs KOR. But it really applies to any other nation.

If we look at the women players, CHN can score 2 pt (WS+WD) with high probabilities.
If we look at the men players, CHN can also score 1 pt (MS) with high probabilities.

Therefore, as soon as CHN won a point from the XD and/or MD, it can be concluded (with high probabilities) that CHN has won.

Well, how about ala-Ryder cup? .. xd
For the doubles, how about we mix up the players from different countries.
Lee Yong Dae + Tan Boon Heong, for example, as suggested from one Bcer last night. Chemistry will not be an issue IF we do not rush. The Non-China team will figure out what's the best lineup.

A bit off topic-The World team does have a chance..

..If so, consider Zhou Mi as a challenger to CHN (if one considers Hong Kong to be separate from CHN)..WS can also feature Tine R., but she has to be fit. MD and XD will be 50-50, more or less. Those are the only events that i think the World has a chance in.

one good reason to adopt the ryder cup system is for both team captains to name their players and order of play independently, i.e. LD may play against SDK and LCW with BCL. that will certainly more interesting.

LYD obviously did not reserve anything in the XD match. He will not perform any better even if Korean use another MD for the 3rd match.

Relying too much on LYD and LHJ is Korean team's lethal weakness. On the contrary, every Chinese player looked full of energy.
