    Hi all,

i have been experiencing bicep pain whenever i smash. I am currently using a mp99 with bg 66 at 23lbs. I tot it was the string as previously i was using bg 80 at 24lbs. However since changing to bg 66, pain still appear.

However when i am using my ti10 or arc 10 i do not experience any pain when smashing. Could any of you experienced player please enlighten me why? Is it because the mp99 is too stiff for me? If that is the case isn't ti10 3rd gen also as stiff or stiffer? Arc 10 is strung with bg85 at 23lbs and ti 10 with bg 66 at 22lbs.

Thank you for reading my thread.

BICEP pain: Your technique is wrong my friend. Smashing don't use your bicep muscle--->>IT's the TRICEP......You must be doing too much SLICE in your smash and over rotating your body....

There could be several reason to why your arm hurts.

    1. Your string are is at a tension that your arms are not comfortable with and you exert too much strength till your arms become sore.

    2. You did not warm up properly before your game and you over stretch your arm thats why it hurts.

    3. There is not proper smashing technique.

    4. Lastly you could have over stretch your muscles when you play other games like tennis or squash.

Please see a physiologist or a doctor, or else if it persist it is going to take a long time to heal.

Racket weight all 3U. Oh yeah i did not warm up too. But the thing is alway experience with mp99 only. The rest of the racket does not give me such a problem.

Take it easy dude... warm up and make sure you see a doc or else it is going to be painful

Well i think the mp99 is a heavier racket than the rest of the rackets that you have.

Yeah, that's true. But i don know why i love it so much. Yeah normally will go away in a week. I think maybe i should not smash so hard and over stretch the muscle

For heavier racket, Smashing technique is not forgiving, so you must have to do a right technique of smashing--if you going to be smashing over 50x in 3hrs...I luv to smash, I smash on the average of 20x for 21pts game and I played 7-8 games:that a whole lots of smashing to do.......

Agreed, I never hear bicep ache after smashing or even playing badminton. The swing of smash involves shoulder adduction & flexion, elbow extension, forearm pronation and wrist flexion. Apart from the racket, I think the most important is to consult your coach for the proper racket swing.

sounds like its purely a technique problem.....but guys you dont purely rely on your tricep muscle for a smash :S Bicep, forearm, shoulder muscles etc etc are all just as important depending on what type of smash and what position you will be in.

Get a coach or more advanced player to help you with your technique.

It could be but the funny thing is only with muscle power 99. Other racket i never have such a problem. Maybe because mp99 is too heavy for me to handle?

Is your pain at the upper bicep area, near your shoulder and towards the rear ? More accurately, the rear deltoid area ?

If so, should be due to technique.

Always use racket that suit us:)

I personally feel that u should see it as the MP99 does not suit u:)
We should only use a racket that we feel comfortable:D

The pain is at the top of the bicep. Where the mouse is. Lol. But mine is a small mouse, not a big one. Hehehe. :)

or you could be quickly extending your arm to full elongation (ie elbow completely straght) - biceps don't like that AT ALL

    (as a byproduct of technique)
