ae86trueno raised a question in another thread. in order to have further discussion. i guess it's better to open a new thread on that topic. eventhough i've been using computer for 14 years. the first and last printer i've ever had so far was bought in 2002! in other words i didn't print much and i didn't really have much experience of correctly calibrating those two devices for printing. what a shame! anyway i m gonna tell u my old and clumsy way. what i did in the past was launching photoshop and print a photo straight away. then adjust my monitor with adobe gamma according to the color of that print out and done! but that move had created another problem. the color on the monitor didn't look good after being calibrated for that printer! i was told that on the macintosh platform. there was (around 1995) a technology called "colorsync". it did a good connection between a monitor and a printer. i don't know if apple has a newer technology nowadays. so, would someone please give me an update info on that. also, other than my clumsy way. i think there must be a smarter way to do that on the pc platform. can u guys share with me the most effective way?
Apple connoisseurs.. ..for that, you've gotta ask either or both Oldhand and/or madbad as Mac owners..
Hi red00ecstrat, I think this link will give good information. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=296149 I hardly printed my photos as well. so calibrating the printer colour is less important to me, however I find calibrating monitor and profile is very important especially when I start using dual screen.
Never calibrated my monitor.. ..and i hardly print anything colored/photos. Also, nowadays i'm using mostly laptops.
if u are talking about calibrating a monitor alone for viewing pleasure. that is rather easy. with adobe gamma, just follow the step by step precedure. then u would be able to do it pretty easily. but to me, it is a very tough job if i need to cal it for a printer. the colors of a print out is always a bit different from what i see from the monitor!
yep, I did use the adobe gamma last time, i think its good enough for viewing but recently i had problem when editing in ps then after i posted the photo on the net. I notice I got different result when Im viewing on other computer (could be the other PCs all not calibrated too but i want to try get mine at least calibrated)
i notice the same thing. an image looks ok after being edited. but if i post that image on the net. it turns out a bit darker!
You welcome red00ecstrat, I think with photoshop and IE, I read in that thread about colour profile or how we save the image.
