I know there are stats out there for things such as longest game, longest rally, fastest smash, fastest game, mileage covered and etc.

I'm wondering if there are any official sources out there that I can grab these from as right now they just seem to be word of mouth from our BFers. This is for a research essay I'm writing entitled "Badminton: A sport Overlooked and Underrated". Basically what I'm trying to do is cover why it pales in comparison to tennis nowadays in terms of how big the sports' names are.

Any sources would be greatly appreciated :D. Thankss!

just in my opinion, badminton is not popular as tennis because the accessibility (if that's the word, or how u spell it) Cost money to play badminton, and the courts are really restricted. Tennis is just everywhere you go, schools, parks, and other recreation places.
2nd tennis doesn't cost that much to practice (re-use the old balls to practice)
badminton (=( the bird just has its life length)
I guess it's all come down to money?
    =)
Well of course because of that less people play less popular it is

And the badminton is indoor game as the wind has a terrible influence on the birdie.

i think the issue is different. how did it achieve such popularity in asia then? its still an indoor sport but if u argue that courts are more accessible there, then why? there has to be some driving force that stops it from becoming more accessible and more popular in the us. and the problem isn't that nobody plays it. lots of people play badminton out there but the sport doesn't seem to be evolving the way it could outside asia.

i do agree that financial issues are part of the problem tho, but that could easily be because only one brand in that sport owns everything. yonex is totally dominant over all other brands in badminton. there's a high demand for their equipment as a result and they are simply able to pump up prices. if the prices went down I don't think birdie life would be too much of an issue.
