    It's in Msia, again.

    NST
Bukit Kiara replaces Hyderabad as host

    2009/06/02
MALAYSIA will host the Asian Junior Badminton Championships on July 12-19. BA of Malaysia (BAM) general manager Kenny Goh, said the association was taking over the job from India, who was to host the event in Hyderabad.

This will be the third time in a row that Malaysia is hosting the competition which will be held at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara.

Malaysia is also hosting the World Junior Championships in Alor Star, Kedah on Oct 23-Nov 1.

The other major tournament is the Malaysian Grand Prix Gold Challenge which will be held in Johor Baru on June 23-28.

In last year's Asian Junior competition, Mak Hee Chun-Teo Kok Siang ended Malaysia's six-year drought in the boys' doubles. The pair are no longer eligible to play in the Under-19 championships.

This year, Malaysia will be banking on the boys' singles players for honours.

They are MSSM champion Zulfadli Zulkifli and German and Dutch Junior Open champion Iskandar Zulkarnain.

Meanwhile, Tee Jing Yi, who was a reserve in last year's Uber Cup in Jakarta, is the country's main contender for the girls' singles crown.

Also in the fray are the boys' pair of Pang Zheng Ning-Chooi Kah Min, the semi-finalists in last year's World Juniors. -- AJITPAL SINGH

Yup, that means Msia will host both the AJC (in Bukit Kiara) and WJC (in Alor Setar,Kedah) this year. The local fans will be happy.:D

Mohd Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan and Didit Juang/Seiko Wahyu Kusdianto (both of PB Djarum) should be spearheading INA's challenge in the BD. Too bad, Jenna Gozali is no longer eligible.

The day's schedule July 12-19 doesn't look good.
Some of junior players will compete in the Challenge & GP event in Australia, NZL, Laos & Indonesia.

I don't think INA will send best team in here, guess they will be splitted in AJBC & AUS-NZL.

My hope INA's Junior Team are

WS : Febby Angguni, Ana Rovita, Siti Anida & Rena Suwarno
MS : Riyanto Subagja, Evert Sukamta, Marcus Fernaldi, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito (I like this young squad)
WD : Tiara Rosalia/Suci Rizky, Della Destiara/Claudia Wijaya or combination Anneke Feinya+someone
MD : M. Ulinnuha/Berry Angriawan, Kevin Alexander/Angga Pratama or combination Johanes Rendy Sugiharto+someone
XD : Johanes Rendy Sugiharto, Seiko Wahyu, Didit Juang, Anneke Feinya, Della Destiara, Yayu Rahayu, Ricky K. Suwandi/Ayu Pratiwi

Nurbeta/Aulia is best U-19 WD among non Pelatnas players.
Looking last year h2h and recent performance, I think Tiara/Succi & Della/Claudia also Anneke Feinya are still better than them.
Usually only 2 WD every team (exception host) can compete in this junior event.

I personally don't think Pelatnas will want to release Anneke Feinya Agustine for the AJC or WJC this year. Besides, she will not be partnering with Annisa Wahyuni in those events anyway, even though she's eligible.

I heard today that PBSI [90% chance] intend to send:

WS: Siti Anida, Rena Suwarno, Febby Angguni, Ana Rovita
MS: Ary Trisnanto, Evert Sukamta, Hermansyah, plus Siswanto or Seto Danu
    WD: Suci-Tiara, Della-Claudia
MD: Angga-Kevin, either Rendy-??? or Ullin-Berry
    XD: Rendy-Tiara, Angga-Gebby, Kevin-Suci, and Jones-Nurbetta

The WS and WD team mentioned is exactly like what Sandy hoped... But the others were somewhat different...

    Hard decision in MD
    my hope : Ulin/Berry, Kevin/Angga or Rendy+???
    PBSI : Kevin/Angga, Rendy+??? or Ulin/Berry

I took MS based on INA U-18 last year whose fielded Evert, Marcus Fernaldi, Alrie Gunadarma & Wahyu Nayaka. Those line up made me unsure Ary Trisnanto still in age range or not, either Hermansyah and Hera Desi in WS.

In ASEAN school last year, INA won 2 titles, Girl's team (Febby, Siti Anida, Ana Rovita, Tiara, Della/Claudia, Feinya/Aurien H) and Girl's Double by Della/Claudia. 2nd place in MD by Rendy/Ulin, XD by Ulin/Della.

    For Sandy and Krisna:
How good is Kevin Alexander/Angga Pratama? I have heard their names often but have yet to watch them to have an idea of how they will stand among INA's BD pairs? They lost to Rizky/Albert during the Pratama selection.

What I don't understand is why the Pratama players not exposed to Domestic Circuit, which is presumably very competitive. If these guys just train and train, when will they be sent to international tourneys except for the AJC, WJC and the several Int Challenges in the region?

I thought the Domestic Circuit will be a good arena for them to test their skills against the ex-Pelatnas, Club and veteran players.
