Review: New Armortec Series

    I have searched the forum and there seems to be no thread that is related to these new Armortec's except Armortec 600.

    I'm begging reviews from anyone who has played the following Armortec's:
    Armortec 30
    Armortec 50
    Armortec 70
    Armortec 500 (New Grey/Silver)

    I have played with Armortec 50 for around 2 hours or so, so I can only give a brief review of it.

    Here it goes (in OldHand's format):

    Armortec 50

    Summary:
    Advertise as a new Armortec racquet from the series. The materials are similar as Armortec 30 (an upgrade of Armortec 150) except that AT50 contains gForce Ti while AT30 has Super Alloy. The flexibility of the racquet is also more stiff than AT30 and AT70, as per advertisement.

    Flexibility:
    Personally, I think this racquet is not as stiff as advertised. I actually bent the racquet to test its flexibility compared with my Muscle Power 22 LT. It feels that AT50 is just a bit more stiff than MP22LT.

    Head-Balance:
    This is certain head-heavy racquet because I can feel that it is somewhere between an AT900T and an AT700 (I only played with those 2 racquets for me to compare with).

    Performance:
    I wouldn't say that this racquet defends well as I felt that the racquet become sluggish on side-defense, just a bit slow. But, the power certainly covers that part up. This baby smash like you never smash before. Even with factory-string, which I broke it after the first game and my friend was angry with me, the speed of smashed shuttle are at a good speed. For control, I can't say much because the racquet was in factory string and there were only minor control. It feels that this racquet is designed for mix doubles where the man at the back can smash continuously.

    Conclusion:
    This racquet, in my opinion, is for mix doubles. Defense is a bit weak but the power makes up for it. Something about the frame bugs me during the game is that if you some how mishit the shuttle, the racquet gives a weird vibe to your palm. It's not like it's a big deal, just it feels weird. If you don't have a strong grip force during impacts, you might want to add some overgrip to the racquet because your hand may or may not go numb-ish for less than a second. For price, it would be best if this racquet sells below $110 USD.

    Thanks for the review Gemcat. So is there a new AT500 or are you talking about the old model. I thought they have stopped production of AT500s.

    It's the new AT500 via Japan Catalogue. Canada still have them at some stores and I believe they are still in production.

    thanks for the review Gemcat. it seems very informative. just wondering, how stiff does it feel in play? like AT90P or MP-21 or AT500?

    I have never played with either of the racquets you mention! Haha:D

    I have played with only AT900T, AT700, and MP22LT.

    Assuming you are talking about Armortec 50....
    It's more stiff than MP22LT, to me that is.

    I try both at700 and at70MG
    AT70MG feel like hammer lorh

    I didn't try AT70MG so I don't know if it's a hammer or not. But I'm sure AT700 could be the hammer-est in the Armortec series.;)

    But at700(2nd gen) doesnt feel like hammer at all .. And yes I dont add lead tape on my racket

    agreed, especially the transfer of the weird vibe to my hand/wrist when hard mishit to the racket frame.

    also agreed on the slower defence reaction. might be due to head heavy balance.

    lastly agreed on the power it can generate on smashes. head-turning effect, cool!:D

    My AT500SP for past 3yrs, which i suspect it's quite similar to the 50.

    AT700 2nd Gen? You mean the China Olympic Limited Edition with the dragon on the shaft? That can smash pretty hard too.

    Hi Gemcat, thanks for the review. Hi kevinle92618, like you I have bought the AT50. So will review soon. I have strung it at 24 mains and 22 cross, using BG 65Ti.

    String tension Suggestion for AT70 mg2

    Hi Guys,
    I am sorry if this is not the right place to ask. Got myself a new pair of Nanogy BG95 strings, I wanted to check what that the recommended string tension be if I wanted get them strung to my AT 70.
