Anyone here owns only 1 racket? Is it normal to have owned only 1 racket for your games? Mine is AT500SP for about past 3yrs.
I know a lot of badminton players who go around with just one racquet. That is not surprising -- after all, people don't wield two racquets, do they? Having said that, a second (standby) racquet is always useful. You might snap a string or (heaven forbid) the racquet itself. You might have annoyingly sweaty hands that make the grip soggy. You might want to give yourself a reason to spend that hoarded money PS: I also know a few who go around with no racquet at all. This tribe is called the SPB... 'Shameless Persistent Borrowers'.
thanks for advice for having a 2nd racket. serious wor? so far, those i know are with bag loads of rackets... I dun even hv a badminton bag, bring my racket walking around exposed.
Hey! I was in that tribe before! Don't disgrace them, though they are shameless... Play - the action of having fun. Just kidding...haha...Well...there are some poeple that are racquet collectors, meaning they don't necessarily have to know how to play badminton right. However, most people who owns a racquet will at least know how to play badminton and not just catching butterflies. Haha
ya rite, at least, I can't blame it on my racket when i had a lousy game. Only to blame my skills...:crying:
yeah, it's useful to have an spare racquet in case your strings or the racquet itself snaps. otherwise, they really isn't any good reason other than having a collection or wanting to try different ones.
I know some that carry extra rackets to cater for this group. Usually some old rackets that they don't use any more. Some even take the trouble to carry new pinkish, light rackets that is strung at 18 lbs , just in case any new chicks drop-in for the session .
I still can't believe that badminton attracts "chicks" in some places! When I was young and available, badminton was about as much a babe magnet as Dungeons and Dragons. However, a self-assured man -- one who knows what he wants and sticks with it: That's a babe magnet! Good on you, cephas_chan.
I do carry a few of those 'lendable' racquets in case someone is shameless enough to ask to borrow one of my 'unable-to-lend' racquets These 'non-lendables' are not necessarily expensive racquets but simply those that I have stringed and gripped to my exact preferences... and I don't like anyone else using them. But, I don't have those, um, 'chick' racquets
Make sure your pinkish racket is even or light head balance, if not, the gals will find it too heavy.
Yonex Arcsaber 9 would be ideal . Come to think of it, Apacs Edge Saber 9 will do . Chicks who come for games without their own racket usually are beginners. Don't want them to "abuse" an expensive racket.
I used to be a one-racket owner. But that time, I only play a couple of times a month. When I was still a student, I didn't have my own racket at all. During high school, my rackets were provided by the school. During college, a friend who stopped playing badminton lent me his. I only got my own racket when I was already working. At first, I had only 1. Then, when I realized that I had been playing regularly, I bought another. Unfortunately, those were stolen, so I bought another one and got back to being a one-racket owner. But now, I have five (one's not being used because it has a crack).
