Guys, someone offers me a Yonex NS9900 with serial number on the cone 280882SP. Refering to the s/n listed, is it real or fake one ? If I'm not wrong, NS9900 was launched in Jan 2009. Does it make sense if the racket was made in Aug 2008 ? I plan to buy one if it is a real yonex. Anyone can help me please.. Thanks
sorry, I have no pic at all. Just curious about the date manufactured of this racket. If no problem with the s/n I will meet the buyer for physical check and make transaction. Any advise ?
That is the date code only - it's incomplete without the serial number which is on the shaft. The racket was released this year. High possibility that it is fake.
Thanks Matt. The s/n on shaft is 8852599. I already post it in http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31873&highlight=yonex+serial+number&page=468 but have no reply yet.. Can anyone help ?
One more thing that confusing me, the seller has more than one NS9900 with same serial number like that. I believe that each racket has different serial number on shaft. But he explain those rackets is made for national players so it might have same serial number. He also said they are not sold in retail store. Can anyone confirm about that ?
Probably fake, shaft serial code is unique to a racquet, while cone code isn't. NS9900 was released much later than last august, don't buy.
Finally I got some of the pics. The pic quality is not quite good, hope it can still be observed. Please help to identify..
Hi Kwun, thanks for the identification. Do you have any info for the market price of the fake racket like this ?
$0. most of them are make with extremely cheap material and they will break catastrophically. not worth any money.
It's counterfeit. This is because the serial/date code has a 1:1 relationship with the racket. Therefore each racket, each serial is unique to each racket such that no two rackets will have the same serial.
Sorry, I revise my prev posting which said that the seller has same s/n on the shaft on all rackets. After checked by myself, they (batch number) are all unique. I compared with the original sunrise YY racket, both look same, paint job, characters, cone, grip, frame, grommets, shaft and bottom cap are similar, except no sunrise sticker and the serial/date code isn't match. The seller said the s/n can not be verified in YY retail database because they were made for sponsorship i.e national player so they were not for sale at retail store and the absent of sunrise sticker is because of they were not distributed through sunrise. For proof the originality, he strung the racket with BG65 33lbs and its frame is still ok. Forgive my ignorance, but how do you think, does the seller's reason make sense at all ?
Lol! The seller is pulling an old trick from the book. They will say whatever they can to convince you away from the truth. Same serial on the shaft = coutnerfeit. The YY rackets can be tracked down. -------------------------------------------------- Notice one more thing which no one pointed out in the picture. The grip/tension label has a sticker, instead of laser engrave which it is suppose to be laser engraved!
I for one think I should call it real so bemyself will buy it. Why? After all the expert members screaming and yelling it is a fake, he still continue to deal with the seller. Why are we waste our energy to help some one who chose to believe something too good to be true? It is a too good to be true deal for a real Yonex. It is a waste of money deal for a fake.
