I realize this thread is ancient but maybe I can find some buddies to play with.

I work downtown manhattan would love to find 4-6 people to play regularly at the Stuyvesant high school ?

    Anyone?

I would like to set a local club somewhere near my neighborhood, and I want to do this survey for so long, your participation is very welcome:

If you live in 50 miles within New York City, US (use zip code 11365 as center, since I live close there ^___^ ), please answer the following questions:

    1. Where do u live? - Please use zip code, easy to check online

Live in 11101 but work in 10004

    2. Where do u play - Please provide local club/college/high school name (u can put more than 1 answer)

right now , i just started again with nyc badminton ...and realize why i stoppped ...they are expensive !

    3. What kinda racket u use? - brand, model
ummm - embarass to say lol ... carbonex 23 ... and my brother bought me nanospeed 8000 ( not that i play any better with it )

    4. Where did u get ur racket - shop on line (website, plz)? local store? shop in another nation?
I get my rackets from Malaysia/Singapore where I am from.

    5. How many hrs u usually play for a week?
I like to play about twice a week if possible with a group of friends

    6. If I set a club about within 10 miles (use zip code 11365 as center), are u willing to participate? Sorry, under progress, contacting different local school gym for now. So, no detail address is available yet.

    yeah i might

    7. How much u can afford for member fee? - pay by each visit? pay by a yearly member fee?

    depends

Even though, I don't expect too many ppl to answer the questions, but let me get a try, see how "poplular" badminton is in NY.

    Thanks, everyone.

    Hi,

I've been playing in Manhattan with NYCB for some time (mostly on Tuesdays) but can no longer play during the week
Which places do you recommend if I want to play during the week-end? I have an intermediate level and I would like to find a friendly club, not too crowded (don't want to wait too long between games) but with enough intermediate to advanced players to play with.

I found several options (Brooklyn badminton, Poona badminton, friendly badminton, CP badminton & NY badminton center) and I don't know what to choose...
    Anyone can help? LazyBuddy maybe?

    Kim

    Sorry to reply late.

These days, I mainly playing in Brooklyn Badminton Club (John Dewey HS) on Sat, and NYBC (Flushing) on Sundays (usually between 4-8pm). Both places have a large variety of players, and I am sure you should be able to find enough players for decent games. As they are all open walk in, the # of players are highly depends on which groups decide to show up. However, unless you get into a un-usual peak time, each place has reasonable waiting time, as they have 8 and 6 courts each. Most of the time, you can easily wrap up 10+ games per session, if you stay reasonable long enough period of time.

    Thanks for your reply lazyBuddy.
I tried Friendly badminton yesterday: they were many many beginners but I found some good players I had fun playing with. I think I will try Brooklyn Badminton next week-end.
Have you ever tried NYBC on Saturday afternoon?

Have you ever tried NYBC on Saturday afternoon?
Sure, you are always welcome to join us. If you stop by, let me know, and hopefully we can get a few games together.

I hardly go to NYBC on saturday afternoon, but usually go there on sunday instead. I believe either day, you should be able to find a great variety of players, and I am sure you can find the group you feel comfortable with. Pretty much the same thing for Brooklyn Badminton as well.

that would be ok, we can really play as long as we want, just need to see who can last if not, we play during the week on Monday 6-9 if we don't have enough then we aim for Tuesday and Thursday 6-9 if you can't make a Saturday you can play on Sunday, I go to church but others will play.

I'll find out how long people will play on Saturday for you.
