Just wondering if anyone knows which speed of yonex mavis 300/350 to use in toronto? slow/med/fast? also, any difference between 300 and 350s in toronto other than price? i need some plastic shuttles but have no idea which to use. not too familiar with them...

From cheapest to most expensive in Vancouver, should be similar or same in Toronto.

    Red > Blue > Green

the 350 does tend to stay in shape longer compared to the 300. if you're picky, the 300 may last you one game, maybe 2 at most. 350 should definently lasts more than 1 game.

when 300 deforms, it tends to get either wobbly or changes in speed. 350 just tends to slows down.

will there be any selective colour/speed in Canada?
i mean during winter, during summer or fall, is the temperature greatly affect on which speed of shuttlecock to use?

Yea, 300 does that, which I hate a lot. I usually play with 350 as my old box of 300 is done done done!:D

Definitely. In the winter, the temperature can drop below minus zero. The safest bet is to go with Blue normally and Red during winter (I do that). I tried Green in summer before and it's stupid that I did. I didn't like Green at all!

if you're playing indoors and the temperature remains relatively steady, it shouldn't make a huge difference. blue (normal) is the most popular one.

the green is still too fast for us. We re-shape the skirts before playing:D Only during the deep winter days when the temperature get down to -25C or lower, the green mavis work very fine. In fact, in those periods, hitting mavis has a nice 'crack' sound to it, similar to hitting feathers.

    yonex 350 vs 300

Most people at our gym here in montreal use YY 350 blue when using nylon shuttles. I prefer green as they're the slowest. The red striped ones are just wayyy tooo fast. Yes, the 300s seem to fall apart faster, but for me, both get faster after a few games (and are equally crappy:)). I think the 300s are only $1 cheaper per tube, so it's worth it to get the 350 tubes.

I just picked up a tube of 300's blue. There not to bad but I wish they were faster or I'm getting weaker. I couldn't find any 350's blue tho to try out.

will it be wise to use feather shuttle all the while, till the season where as the temperature falls to -25C?
maybe i cant recall every details that you provide on 300 adn 350. is there a suitable speed either 300/350 for temperature not at -25C? blue 300? green 350?

damn..... at -25C, will my sweat freeze while flowing 2 inches?

-25C temp. outside;) With moisture out of the picture, the air is denser even at room temperature. Also, in cold winter days, the gym temp. is usually 1 to 2 degree colder than normal.

Well, here in Vancouver the temperature don't usually drop below -10 Celcius. Sometimes in the winter it's stupidly cold even the temperature doesn't suggest so, just the windy winter days that will freeze your eyes, nosal, and mouth. Me and my friend usually joke about pissing outside and the urine will freeze the second it forms a arc. Hahaha~ :D:D Yes, it's that cold!

if you want long lasting birdies, go with green (slow) mavis 350. we just had 8 games with a single green mavis 350. so it's pretty good
