He looks a lot like Jaseel P Ismail, one of India's best ever players.
But, if it's indeed Jaseel, he appears to have thickened quite a bit.

    Where was this taken?
    What was the occasion?

    Right on, Mr Oldhand.
It is indeed Jaseel. This was taken last week when I was in Kochi, Kerala during my vacation. He has gained a few pounds but still plays like a pro.
I am the one to his right, the other fat dude!!!

    Huh?
So you already knew the answer?

Anyway, it must be wonderful to play with such a fantastic player.

He started out as a singles player and then moved to doubles.
Jaseel could jump quite high and had a very strong smash too.

I believe he has a few national titles to his name :)

    Fat?
    Hardly.

To me, you look a bit like Anup Sridhar with a receding hairline :D

Believe I had seen him in a inter-club tournament in Singapore last year organised by Ashaway.

Djarum club players like Eddy Hartono, Arbi and Sigit also played in the same tournament. If I recall correctly, Jaseel struggled 'a bit'. :)

It is hard wood floor & quite "spongy". Guests are allowed in only with a paying member; there is no fee to get in as a guest but you have to bring in your own birdies. I got in using Jaseel's membership. The hall is probably air conditioned but it was definitely turned off while we were playing. It is not a full time baddy hall. They have other programs that happens there but every day morning and evening, it is dedicated to badminton. The only issue that I found was lighting. The corner courts(there are 10 total) were poorly lit.

    Jawaharlal Indoor Stadium in Kochi.

    ^^I see..^^

..hmm, hard wood but "spongy" feel??..hmm..
Yeah, i can imagine it must've felt like a sauna in there, esp. with all that humidity hanging in the air..:p

Yeah, not as spongy as the rubber mats but spongy for a hardwood floor.
The humidity was insane; we were are sweating like crazy. Whilst I was there, I had to take showers 3 times a day because u feel so 'sticky' all the time.
& one more thing, the inside of the stadium, there are tons of mosquitos!!!!
So, if u r not playing, carry an insect repellent into the stadium!
