look at the 4:50 to 4:58. the player goes off court and changes the rackt b/c the string broke and still end up winning the point. very cool vid, but is this technically legal? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFMH-NMb4PM
You'll notice during some doubles games, there will be a racquet or two just lying by the side of the court so that this is possible.
The pros did it in that vid, of course it's legal. Fu Hai Feng did it a couple weeks ago in a tournament.
It would be an interesting tactic changing racket to a heavier smash orrientated one whent the opponents lift lol
Lol yeah that would be good. If they do a high lift - grab the armortec 700 , if you know your going to defend grab the nanospeed 6000. I believe many professional players have done this - it is so cool to see , especially if they win the rally after. Imagine breaking 2 sets of strings in one rally and changing twice! Thats something the audience would go wild at!
leeyongdae was denied doing it the 2nd time during the happy suwon asian championship, poor him...but he still won it against fellow korean teammates in the finals with Hyojung-nuna. haha~
yupe~ he changed his racquet...running off court and grabbing his other racquet on the box...then came back on to win the point... but not long after that....some problems with racquet again...but he was denied to get another one by the umpire.... i think that's wat happened from what i watched...
What I can't understand is how they manage to do it with losing the rally. They must open up a hole somewhere on the court.
Yeah , most of the time they lose the rallies when they attempt a change. The ones that I have seen. It looks really difficult , the speed of the racket change is amazing!
that sound like fun. I am going to Do a double Rackets change on 1 Rally on my Next tournament for FUN....LOL
yes, its legal... ive watched tony gunawan changed racket as his' string was cut during a long rally, that was during philippine open 2007 and subsequently they won the point for that rally...
Just a thought. Is it legal to carry 2 rackets into the court, let say I would hold a racket on each of my hand and I have mastered them both.
Great idea, in case one racket break during the game, toss one to the crowd and switch racket Hand. I think it can be dangerous playing 2 rackets in double, You might end up hitting your partner with IT....LOL Maybe for single might be a great idea. If you master both hand, you have a change beating LIN DAN....LOL.......no need for backhand. Just smash from both LEFT and Right............
