since i dont have any inside info, i am free to make guesses.:D

maybe yonex is launching a new 'lexus' line of products, to out class its competitors that are closing in ex. Li-Ling:D To have a newer, fresher, high tech image:D that would have a more international appeal:p

if u look at competitor's logos, it has a feeling of speed.

    YY logo doesn't:p
To take on the world, need of image change?:p

    I think sgbad disagrees :-D

    /Twobeer

P.S. On a more serious note I guess the Z may have something to do with Carbon Fullerene bindings :p... let's see , or tri-axial (X/Y/Z) Woven... fingers crossed :) D.S.

The letter 'Z' is a bad choice in marketing.

Some people pronounce it as 'zee', some as 'zed' and some as 'iz-ed'.
(Cirque-du-Soleil has a show named 'ZED" now playing in Tokyo.)

Alarmingly, the Z from Yonex is broken.
    I hope that isn't a foretaste of something :p

New racquet called the Yonex Tsunami Typhoon Katana Z to counter the Brave Swords, Super Waves, Woods, Flame, Storm and Rocks ;):p.

Movement is as slick and fast as the Zorro sword.. thus the 'Z'...

'Z' is the mark of Zorro. Yonex must be producing rackets that are so fast and sharp that it carves the mark 'Z' in thin air and shuttlecocks. Plus after you defeat yr opponent, you can go up to the net and mark a 'Z' on it :p
