Social Badminton Tournament
Upcoming Event: Social Badminton Tournament
Social Badminton Tournament is a great opportunity for badminton lovers
1) for YOU to LEARN from each other,
2) to TEST your own skill after a long series of practices and
3) bring yourself to a HIGHER level.
The tournament is open to all regardless of age to encourage a healthy competition among the folks. This event also helps to uncover the hidden talent in some great badminton players.
Event date: 22nd and 23rd of August 2009
Time: 10am to 7pm
Location: Mostly in Challenger section 14 (refer to map)
Participation fees: RM25 for single and RM40 for double
Category: MEN and WOMEN- Single and Double
Type: knock-out (due to limited time), everyone got to play at least one match. The winner of the game will proceed to the next round until the final.
Score system: The tournament will follow the 21 point rules and participants are required to play 3 sets in a match (best of 3).
DATELINE for registration: 14/08/2009
Details: Players OPPONENTS are decided base on DRAWING system to avoid any unfair selection of opponents. Besides, to be fair to all the participants, it is better not to have seeding since participants is all unknown to each other and the organizers. There are old folks who are really good and experience players, thus if seeding is to apply, it would be unfair to them. Thus, it is the matter of luck and skill that actually bring the champion to the top. Participants would have to play more than one games a day if they win the match as we, the organizer plans to finish the tournament in 2 days time to save the event cost (include labor cost and court cost).
Event organizing committee profile:
DyLan Lee Tek Loong
Alston Nga Tsing Aun
Yap Weng Soon
Bryan Goh Kai Xiong
Crews: We will be recruiting the participants who are not playing at that time to be linesman in order to save cost. In return, we will be buying them meals and paying them a small amount of money for helping. We will use our own people to umpire all the games to be fair to all the participants. Professional or qualify umpire and linesman are not recruited because it would be very costly to the whole event. Number of crew(linesman and umpire) would be approximate 20 people.
Registration: Participants registered themselves through Facebook or Email by summiting and sending in the participation form(will be upload soon) and deposit their participation fees into the Malaysian Badminton Network account the latest by 14th August 2009.
Marketing the event: We, the organizer will try to use costless method in marketing the event like Facebook, blasting Email, posters and flyers and costless media, if the sponsor sponsors us the advertising fees, we would not hesitate to use newspaper like theSun and MalaysianToday which is consider much more cheaper advertising media to advertise.
Prize: Trophy with the event logo and sponsorís name on it or Badminton Racket depends on SPONSOR. All participant could get a participation certificate with name on it.
Mission and objective of the event
1. To give youngster and old folks a chance to participate in badminton tournament.

To dear organizer,
A very noble way to promote healthy lifestyle. However, it's very unfortunate that the tournament will be held during the fasting period. TRUST me, there r a lot of muslim players out there that r very keen to join.
Organizing a badminton competition in Klang Valley has always attract a lot of players and since this tournament also includes single event, i am confident there will be a lot of participation from this department as not much badminton competition held here involves single event.
Just for a thought, as to fulfill the tournament mission and objective that has been stated in this post, why not consider to alter the schedule for this event as to give more fair participation opportunity especially for muslim players to play. That will be a true Malaysia sport spirit and believe me, it competition WILL become even competitive.
