    Hi All,

I'm new to Badminton Central, but thought I'd ask for some input.

I am buying a racket as a gift for my partner, who is an intermediate, mainly social player.

He has always played with Prince rackets (I use Yonex Armortech & Muscle Power). His playing style is that he is very good at delicate, net shots and drop shots. I would say his weaknesses is power from the back of the court (when we're playing doubles I often end up at the back of the court and him at the net!). He plays predominantly men's and mixed doubles.

He bought himself a Browning racket recently - it was very nearly thrown at the wall and no longer leaves his bag, the strings feel like they lack enough tension. He has reverted to his old prince racket (don't know the model, I'm afraid), but it's seen better days.

Any suggestions on suitable racket for his style of play - I don't want to spend a fortune, but I want a reasonable racket for him. Any thoughts on another Prince as a replacement - I've never played with that brand so have no idea on their performance.

    Thanks for any help!!

    J

    Hi J, welcome to BC!

IMHO, Yonex Nanospeed 7000 or 7700 will suit his style. The racket is fairly light and fast; hence felt obidient & responsive when goes into fast drive rally and netting game - in which typically highly required for double games, especially those who like to be at the front.

Alternatively, you may want to look at Yonex TI-10. Find the 2nd generation if possible (yellow color - 3rd gen is purple blackish color). It may also suit his style.

If budget is a constraint, you may want to look at Apacs. Edge Saber 10 would be a good choice as well.

Perhaps you can share a little bit more on how much budget you are looking at. I am sure lots forumers here will be willing to give you some advices.

    Thanks Boy Genius!

    Hi

Thanks for your response. Will look into your recommendations.

    I'd be looking to pay roughly £50 - £100 (so roughly $80 - $160)

    Thanks again,

    J

Have a look through this site. They have loads of deals on due to selling up loads of end of line stock. I bought my Carlton Fireblade Elite from here and they were really awesome, especially in after-service care.

    Mostly carltons however.

If the budget is an issues, give APACS a try, they do great rackets for unbelievable prices… I’d recommend the APACS NANO PRO 9600, mostly a defective racket also very good for control shots.

Try searching for Kason rackets. Good prices for good rackets. Quite durable.

i believe that you mean defensive.....

i agree with jing09, a kason racket would be a good purchase. i recommend the TSF 200, or maybe the legerity L5. both would suit his style, and the tsf may give him a slight power boost.

Sorry jalew, find your thread quite informative and have to borrow it. Hope you don't mind.

I'm from Singapore. Thought of getting a racket as a birthday present for my buddy. He is an average player who like to smash a lot. Any recommendation of racket for him which cost around 100 Sing dollar. Can also provide me with where to get it from in Singapore if possible?
