I was wondering whether which option below is better and appropriate to increase the size of the yonex grip from yonex G5 (3.25inc) to G4~G3 (3.5 - 3.75inc) instead Option 1: Removing yonex original factory grip in the first place, follow by installing Karakal PU super replacement grip, then add on one layer of overgrip Option 2: remain yonex original factory grip, adding Karakal PU super replacement on top of it. Is it compulsory to remove the original factory grip in order to install the replacement grip???
darkyboy is right on. i find the best way to find what is comfortable is to try it out. However, if it comes to a choice, i vote for 2. i think option 1 is a bit... different. reason being, Karakal PU is one of the best grips out there, and chance are it would feel better than the other overgrips.
i'm using Opt 1. Option 2 may just make your grip really thick. removing the base & use PU super directly is perfect. the grip on Zelm is karakal PU super directly with base grip removed. my arc10 is running with karakal PU super as the base & a wilson overgrip.
I'd do it anyway. The original factory grip is applied without any insulation layer (e.g. electric tape) so if the grip gets soaked in sweat it becomes very hard to remove later. What I usually do is to remove the factory grip, apply 1 layer of electric tape (as insulation & to keep the handle clean), 1 layer Karakal PU a layer of Wilson overgrip -- pretty much like Donny's ARC10. I usually only need to change the Wilson overgrip maybe every 1-1.5 months.
Hey donny, do you accept students for grip wrapping? Your finish product of your grip wrapping is good!
i'm a sucker for grips. i can't stand untidy grip job & taping at the cone. anyway, they are not perfect.
