Ok, this is my first post, but I have been reading some of the advice in this forum because I have had a few tournaments coming up, and I wanted some advice. From what I have read it was all very good advice, on nutrition and mental attitude, and tactics., etc.. My own main problem is mental attitude, and I needed to improve my attitude during the game, and in preparation of the game. As a result of the advice given, yesterday I played a singles tournament, and I won it!! I didn't drop a single set, and nobody got more than 8 points against me. For me this was a real boost to my confidence in the game again. It has taken me a long time to get my attitude to work, and now I feel like my game is three times as good just because of the advice given here! Again, thanks to you all!!!!!!!!
It that was the case ... You're playing in way too low a grade, jump up one trophy hunter! Actually congrats on your first title, it's always nice to get the first one.
yes perhaps i am playing in a too low grade but I haven't had so much success in the doubles event previously though :| maybe singles is my thing.
Congrats!!! I believe no matter which level u r playing, as long as u can won it (and with such a dominating performance), u r good! While, I don't think I can do singles. I am afraid that I will be the one never get more than 8 points out of anyone, hehehehhee... I like double better, which requires the mental strength from 2 ppl. Partners need to cheer each other up when the game is on the line. Anyways, congrats!!!
the mental part of the game is the toughest to grasp. and that is especially true during a tournament. that is quite some achievement you have there! keep up the good work!
Indeed. I agree with Kwun. The atmosphere and feeling in playing in a tournament and in normal friendly sparring matches are totally different. I've played in my school's tournament before, I know. Well I got 3rd in the Men's Singles, so I guess it wasn't so bad! Could have at least got 3rd in the Men's Doubles but partner backed out at the last minute!
regardless of level a win is a win! nobody takes that one away from you. it does mean though, you are the one on the hot seat for next tournaments, but you keep your own sights set for the next rung. step-by-step you will get to where you eventually want to be. congrats!
