As stupid as it sound, but I can't seem to grasp the idea. I know how swivel clamp works, but not sure about the flying clamps. What's holding it from moving around when clamped onto the string? Is it using the frame as a 'fix' point?

It locks a tensioned string against the neighbouring string (already tensioned) - two strings next door to each other would slide in opposite directions if allowed to; the flying clamp prevents this.
