Thread: Zymax strings

Hi, what is PEEK? Is it a different plastic/synthetic material?
I agree that other strings also have fragile outter coatings, but in my experience as a stringer, the ZM range seems to be more fragile than other strings I've used.
I love the dry rough texture that the ZM range has but it's no good having good grip if the strings move so easily. I also think it lacks feel massively. It holds tension well, but its quite an artificial feeling I get from the ZM range, somehow feels natural if you know what I mean.

Yes PEEK is a different synthetic polymer. One huge advantage of PEEK over other synthetic polymers is its chemical inertness/stability; however being used for badminton consumables this quality does not play a huge role, understandbly

About the coating durability during stringing, for me the coating durability of Zymax strings seems to be better than the three Yonex strings I mentioned. In fact I have never broken outer coating of Zymax strings during stringing so far, but my fixed clamps and tensioner gripper are not diamond dusted, tensions I used may be different to yours, and perhaps the batch number of the strings we use is also different.
To me ZM62 does not lack feel, but of course there are strings with better feel such as fresh BG66UM. The "repulsion characteristics" is also different. ZM62 has a harder feel and more "immediacy", where as you would feel more "hold" or "pocketing" of shuttles if you use strings like BG66UM or NBG98 at the same tension. I prefer ZM62 for this reason but that of course string preference is personal .

What's the current conclusions on the Zymax strings then?
I'm getting the feeling from the last couple of pages they might not really be worth getting any more.
It's just I'm looking at getting a reel of something to save me a bit of money over time but I'm a student so funds are limited. I can't really afford to buy something poor first time and have to buy something else.

^ Don't get a full reel until you're very sure that will be your go to string. Atm I love zm62 but dang it, any mishit and it's toast.

Yeah I've had one racket strung with 62 from Dink, and it was fantastic, but I know I'd go through it too quickly for it to be affordable.
I'm not in a position where it's THAT easy to try out lots of strings. Have to have a think.

I'm getting one of my rackets strung with ZM65 to give it a try. If I like it I'll order a reel I think.
I'd love to get a machine and try stringing for myself, but I don't think realistically I have the time or money.

Just tried the zm65 past week... not sure what to make of it. Being in between 62 and 67, it feels like it has a mix of the good and bad of both... which is to be expected, I suppose. But I'm still leaning towards 62 at a lower tension, to increase durability hopefully.
62 is such an addictive string. It's like a mini orgasm with each crunchy smash.

I totally agree! It's so addictive, and by far the best string at 26x28lbs(for me/playstyle) I have ever used, but durability is at a -10 over 10.
Restringing my rackets every 6 sessions is digging a hole in my pocket.
I really wonder if Zymax 65 can offer me a somewhat close feeling to the 62 with better durability?? And how close the Zymax 65 will feel to 66Ultimax..hmmm

Found a durable tension of 23 lb for my zm62. So far lasting me 20 hrs of play already, whereas anything over would break after 6-8 hrs on a block mishit.
Feel and power are still excellent. Drops, brushes, serve and receive, nets are outstanding. Smashes are still orgasmic.

Zm62 forever!
Ps: anyone find
any differences
in the various colours?
