What is the typical shuttlecock speed used in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore when playing indoors? Also what would be the hall temperature?
77 speed is the most common in Singapore. Protech PT-10 & Masterpiece are very popular. But then, some groups prefer Yonex, Sintec or RSL. In the sports halls, it's between 24ºC and 25ºC in the evenings. The humidity level is quite high at this time of the year - 75%.
At around 24 to 25 degrees C it is like playing in airconditioned courts in Hong Kong, which are set to 25 degrees C and 50% RH. Perhaps the higher humidty in Singapore makes you perspire more and very slightly uncomfortable.
At 29-31 degrees C (day time or night time?), the correct standard speed should be 76. However, this speed is for players who are of a certain level otherwise speed 77 can be used. The distance between speed 77 and 76 is about 30cm. Regardless of what speed, the most suitable speed is one you can hit from backilne to the opposite end's doubles back service line plus/minus approximately 25cm.
it is night time. day time, it can be around 31ºC to 33ºC. speed 77 is not consistent through-out brands. few is faster, few is slower.
Yes, I totally agree, I personally think speed 76 is much more appropriate for sg weather. Espcially using PT 10 shuttle at speed 77, its worst!!!!
Actually, there is some overlap between speed 76 and 77, even for the advanced player or any player who has reached a certain level. The correct speed of a shuttle is one that can reach a distance between 12.4 meters to 12.9 meters using an upward drive shot, giving a range of 50cm. The difference between any one speed is only 30cm, which means it is possible for both speed 76 and 77 to be considered suitable for the court conditions. Even in the same tube of the same shuttles every shuttle will travel a different distance but within the range or tolerance. The better and more expensive shuttles have a narrower and tighter distance range but even here you still get an odd ball.
