Media 3 Aug 2009 by Kenny Lim SINGAPORE - On the back of the launch of its first flagship store in the city-state, leading Chinese sports brand Li Ning has launched a brand awareness drive in Singapore. Li Ning has partnered JCDecaux to launch a four-week out-of-home campaign on cinema screens across five Cathay cineplexes as well as on buses. The sports brand opened its first themed flagship store outside China at the newly open ION Orchard last month and the campaign is aimed at building awareness among local Singaporeans and brand presence in the Lion City and around the region. The campaign also promotes the brand’s badminton equipment and is targeted at local PMEBs and consumers aged 15 to 40. As well as a 30-second ad on the cinema screens, video walls and plasma screens found within these cineplexes will also carry promotions. Li Ning is also the official team sponsor of the Singapore national badminton team.
Goodluck to Li Ning. These campaigns should increase their market share quite significantly if they have done their research accordingly. Only thing next to do is lower their rediculous prices lol
Imagine their next step is to increase the number of stores all over Southeast Asia and with increased patronage, hopefully they could lower their prices. Otherwise it will take a while before they could compete with Yonex more effectively. Just wonder what Victor will do to be in this healthy competition.
Wow singapore sponsored by Lining! I dont think they will get much market share with the kind of prices currently; the price is just way out of reach of the masses.... I think
Well brand-conscious, well-to-do youngsters will be able to nudge their "rich" parents to buy for them this Christmas. Anybody having Oldhand as a parent will be delighted that he owns at least one himself. But all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!
Quite true...kids nowadays are really pampered; once all the marketing gets into their head, they will just demand for it irregardless... but I think Lining needs to build up a customer base of loyal, regular badminton customers...not some kid wannabe terrorizing his parent on and off for the latest, most expensive badminton equipment...
Oh... I am going to Ion to get the Woods N90 racket. But I am only a soso intermediate player with poor stamina, but hoping to pick up the sports again after 10 years of absence.......
yes, I'm a kid... and I was tempted... but I know better. Price of the rackets are out of my range. I did buy a Li ning badminton shirt for 199 yen though, which is about $30 USD... Their badminton stuff are really overpriced. The Li ning badminton grip cost 20 yen for 1 grip, which is about $3 USD. And you all know that you could buy a Yonex 3 roll grip for like $4.50.
I like the popcorn box Too bad I am not a Singaporean I am wonder how the Singapore players feel? Singapore is promoting Li-ning with the China players faces all around but not the Singapore players. As we known, Singapore team is sponsored by Li-ning also, why they don't use local players to promote Li-ning? Perhaps the local players are not famous enough to attract the consumers?
wow they really did something yy did't did b4 i think lol promote in Cathay cinema... good idea... can bring in more ppl to play badminton and still can promote their brand... when some already forgotten abt this sports...
hmm i wonder if the li-ning popcorn is expensive? didnt know li-ning is also in the food industry http://www.zglnsp.com/product.html
lol nice find... whos knows might hav Li Ning AirLine next time haha but different company with same name jus like this
I went to Li Ning store at Ion. No customer inside, but no promotion too. In the end I bought the Woods N90 at Queensway shopping centre for S$390. Come with the racket, N101 LN string @ 23 tightness, grip and a LN racket bag. Quite worth it I think. Nice uncle also.
Before you know it...there will be a Lining movie coming to a cinema near you...come to think of it, the billboard with badminton players and coach could well be promoting some gangster movie...they certainly look the part, given the "nasty" looks on their faces...the coach can be the godfather of an italian clan or something
