..akhem, rumor is swirling around the specs for the new Canon 1D MkIV.......alreadyyyyy???...:p:D;)

    Here are the specs:

Note this refers to a particular test camera, and as Canon regularly tell people doing testing that ‘not all features may make it to production’.

    -1.3 crop
    -Images ~16MP
    -ISO 50-26500
-8MP sRAW1 format providing images that seem to best 1D3 files in detail
-Very clean images at ISO 3200. 6400/12800 take further processing very well>>>very good to hear. Should be interesting to see how "very clean" the images will be??
-Slightly faster FPS than 1D3 in real life shooting
-AF greatly improved and very good in low light>>>this is good to hear
-Liveview AF - not up to fast sports use, but very usable otherwise
    -Video as with 5D2
    -Screen as per 5D2
-Ergonomic improvements with grips - some buttons moved
-Feels faster and more responsive in nearly all aspects of real use.

    Chris,

created a new thread for you:)

Timeline is about right. 2.5 to 3 years later sees the update for the 1D series.

Perhaps in time for this event

More likely that its gonna be a FF considering how the market has moved since the MkIII.

And I'm hoping it would be a FF too. Then perhaps the xxD line or a second series will have a 1.3 crop 'sports' camera that will come in useful as an alternate pair to the 5DmkII.

    Next yr, it is..

..next yr sounds abt right; not sure if it'll come out as early as around the 2010 Winter Olympics though..I recall the 1D MkIII came out during Spring-early summer of 2007 (that's when kwun finally, officially got his hands on his beloved 1DMkIII)..;)
The 1D MkII came out in 2004...So, yeah, roughly abt 3 yrs apart for each model...

For me, i'll just wait for a used 1D MkIII's or the 1Ds MkIII's price to finally reach the affordability range~in abt 2-3 more yrs...:p

I'm hoping the xxD line move to 1.3 crop as well but I think its not possible or won't happen since if this move to 1.3 then Canon killed their EF-S lenses (will only fit to xxxD and xxxxD series) they might move to 1.5 crop if design permitted for EF-S I guess (Nikon 1.5 instead of 1.6 if I remember correctly)

    OMG.

we can easily substitute Brandon's doodle and say "that's Mona Lisa in Canon's ISO102400"

    Sorry...someone jumped the gun..

..the same images, from that website, have been removed (someone from BC must've reported the images to Canon??).

    This is the new caption:

    Editors' note:
The images taken with the pre-production unit of the EOS 1D Mark IV have been removed at Canon's request, as we will be getting the actual review unit. Watch out for the sample shots to come.

Not to fret, master kwun. Mini Me can try posting the images again when newer sample shots are posted.

i suspect user error from cnet. as much as i enjoy having a laugh at canon's woes, i seriously doubt they would make iso102400 official if it produced crap like what cnet produced. i would expect it to be poorer than d3s at iso102400 due to the smaller pixel size but not as poor as in that sample.

I have high expectation to the AF system and am very eager to try. Heard that it will arrive HK at mid Dec., too late for HKO.
