I play 5 days I week but I only get to play for about 45 minutes each day. I play badminton during lunch time. I'm gonna try to join a club this summer so I can play more.

i am very very happy to report that i have increased my badminton time from once a week to twice a week. before my friends and me played once a week (2 hours session). i suggested playing twice a week but they were not that inclined. so i head to the local hall and put on my thick face and look around for a group i can join. found a group and so, happy to say that i will play twice a week starting this month. happy as a clam. har har har. man....i got the worse badminton bug. he he he he.

sad to report, not so at my place. malaysia is a melting pot of many races. and i have friends of many races and please do not take me as a racist. this is my observation and my personal experience. before i got to know my current group, i did try going to the local hall in Ipoh and looking for a group to join. i did not look for any race in particular, just ladies and of the same level of play as me. i found a few chinese ladies playing in groups. i approached them and asked if i could join their group, but all of them said no. not knowing why, i will not speculate. they conversed in chinese (cantonese) and then told me they have enough people. malay ladies who loves to play badminton are very hard to find in Ipoh. maybe i was looking at the wrong places, i dont know. and i look around in the local badminton hall and see mainly groups of the same race play together. mind you not all of them, but most of them. maybe this is only in Ipoh, i dont know. so for a long time i did not get to play. then i found my current group and yes you guessed it, we are all of the same race. i did not choose it to be so. i have this group of uncles playing at the court beside us that have mixed races playing together and they are very friendly. we even had some mixed doubles matches which was much fun. i wish it would one day be like your experience, where everybody join in with everybody and not stick to one group only.

I haven't played badminton in years and I'm really rusty. I'm thinking of picking it up again.

it is not easy to join a group that you don't know with just approaching them. they might have enough players already

unless it is a big group, which mean the book a lot of courts at the same time.
