I play 3-4 times a week as follows:
5 Hours Tuesday: 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.
5 Hours Tuesday: 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.
At least 3 Hours (Friday): 2 p.m. - at least 5 p.m. at most 8 p.m.
3 Hours Sunday: 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Thursday, and Sundays are match play days.
Friday is a training day.
So around 16-19 hours per week.
I started badminton 6 months ago, and now I'm hooked.
I used to play a lot of tennis (>30 hrs/wk) and was the captain of my high school team, but I haven't played in a while. (About a month)
That's a lot for me; I used to play everyday.
I find that it's much more fun playing badminton because you're in closer proximity to the people you're playing with. You're not so far that you need to shout to say something to the other person.
Plus, it's fun to work so hard to get better in something new.

wow, i envy u playing so often, and came over from tennis.I bet all your badminton rackets feel light to hold. Does badminton degraded your tennis footwork? ie, in tennis, one tend to pause or step back to hit a frontal shot where as in badminton u want to hit it ASAP. i guess u feed on this http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=h...num=6&ct=image

Yeah, I try to play a lot so I can get better quickly.
Yes, the badminton racket felt light to hold at first, but I got used to it. Now when I try to hold a tennis racket, it feels heavy.
Badminton does not degrade my tennis footwork. I play tennis using tennis footwork; and I play badminton using (trying) badminton footwork. Because badminton footwork revolves around doing a lot with a little, I believe it helps me get quicker for tennis.
If I play tennis and badminton hand in hand, I have no problem switching strokes and style. The problem lies when I concentrate on only one sport. If I try to tennis serve right now, it would be disaster.
Yes, I love hello pandas.
My birthday is coming up, you can mail some to me. Ha.

Well, I was tempted to play but I can't. I have a rotator cup tendonitis on my right shoulder. Everytime after I played I felt a lot of pain. So, I decided not to play and see a doctor/teraphist. It took a while before I could play again.
At first, it was really hard for me not to play. I just couldn't risk my health if I play. I tried last Jan. but on with only a light play. No smashing, just clears. When I tried to play hard just two weeks ago, I felt it again. Until now, I stopped.
Next week I will definitely play and my arm is about 90% ok. Still, not a hard game.
Good day.

Come again!?
I played tennis yesterday for the first time in 2 months. Only for 10 minutes though.
I've been just playing badminton, lots of badminton.
Well, in a previous post I said, "If I try to tennis serve right now, it would be disaster."
So I decided to take some serves.
What happened next surprised me.
My serves are better now than before!
I thought about how this was possible; tennis and badminton are so different.
Not really.
In a tennis serve you have to extend your arms fully and hit the ball at the highest possible contact point.
Sound familiar?
That's the same thing for a badminton clear or smash.
Because of this, I am confident enough to play in a tennis tournament this Sunday with only 10 minutes of play in 2 months.
It's just a social tournament, but hopefully I at least win 1 match.
I just thought this would be an interesting story to post.Last edited by hellopanda3; 04-24-2009 at 01:38 PM. Reason: Added some stuff.

It depends on the season for me. If it's autumn-winter-early spring, i play about 3-4 times a week. Mondays is a club night, wednesdays after school at the school's badminton club, thursday is the junior club night and perhaps me and my friend will rent a court out on the weekend. It's a rip off though.
For the late spring-summer, badminton slows down a lot here unfortunately. I play about twice a week now. On the monday at the club night, and maybe me and my friend will rent a court out on the weekends. Junior and after school badminton club finishes for the summer and won't begin again till september
