anyone have any experience with stringing at high tension on portable stringers? What is the likelyhood of the racquet breaking? I've seen some break at only 24lbs so I'm just curious about everyone elses observations. I'm thinking about taking a chance and stringing my Ti-10's at 28 on a portable...thing is...if it breaks, I'm out $200 So any thoughts or tips would be great.
you need to first ask yourself: why? yes, higher tension does feel better (again, even that is subjective). but if you are worried about the longevity and cost of your racket, you won't be doing high tension. let alone on a low cost stringing machine. most of us either have extra strong rackets (CN) or don't do it at at all..
-you're a beginner stringer - you got a 2 pt portable - your ti-10 worth more than your portable ...... should i go on?
G'day, Don't do it. I've got a portable 4-point machine and everytime I string my own rackets to 25lbs I kinda do it with extreme care - like dealing with nuke bomb. I have seen my Ti-10 deform so much under tensioning that I nearly chickened out and cut the string! It was only under my ex-stringer (a pro) supervision and encouragement that I finally managed to learn how to string to 25lbs. If any of my friends are reading this - you can stop asking me to string beyond 25lbs because I won't do it!
