During friendly competitive games, I often say "good shot", "ooo...good try" or "good idea" to express my appreciation of the excellent rally. I noticed I also say a few other things just to keep the game atmosphere light & comical (IMO). Buy a (Lotto) 6/49 When tossing a shuttle in the air to see who will start serving, the shuttle lands up-right. 6/49 with the Extra (ref. “Buy a 6/49”) The shuttle lands up-right multiple consecutive times. Cha Cha Cha The footwork of the front doubles players when the players at the back keep hitting clears back and forth to each other. Choppin (as in “Chopping for Firewood”) The racquet is swung with the racquet face parallel to the swing completely missing the shuttle slicing air. Home Run A smash that’s hit high at the opponents lands out at the back of the court. In the Box In a doubles game where the shuttle lands in the back corners (created by the back doubles & side lines). Good for Doubles (ref. “In the Box”) The shuttle lands in the back corner but is out because you’re playing singles. IN!…The Gym The shuttle lands in on the adjacent court. No One’s Home A rally ending with the shuttle being easily hit into a large open court with no opponent close enough to return the shuttle. No One’s Home, But I/You didn’t Knock! (ref. “No One’s Home”) The Player fails to make the easy shot by hitting the shuttle into the net. OUCH! When hitting a hard smash, the shuttle hits the tape (with a big smack) and fails to go over. Strike Three (as in “Strike Three, You’re Out”) When a Player swings twice at the same shuttle and still misses. Surfin (Haha…a favorite) (as in “Surfing the (Inter) NET”) A smash hitting the tape on the net and tumbles over, thus winning the rally. Swattin For Flies (LOL…one of my top favorites) The front offensive doubles partner swinging and missing to kill low defensive returns at the net. Tag! You’re IT! In a heated singles rally in which one Player hits the other Player in the chest. Waaaayy IN! When your opponent thinks the shot was going out but the shuttle landed in “close to the line” but not touching the line. [Hands out, palm up, looking up at the ceiling, as if feeling for rain] Wind From The East What the front offensive Player gestures when their partner completely misses (hitting air) on an easy smash. Do you have slangs you frequently use on-court? Cheers!
My signature line is, wow you hit that thing like it was a baby seal, and many other politically incorrect statements
That's simular to "Cha Siu" (BBQ Pork) for the side that made a half-court clear. I forgot to mention, let's keep the slangs "clean!" Cheers!
Dinkalot says "Yum Yum" with an easy net kill. "Boom, Baby" is when I peg someone with a smash. "Prick!" (with a big smile) at my club is when you roll the shuttle over for a point.
Also YOURS!, if you decided to rush the net early (thinking your opponents is going to make a drop) but instead they cleared it deep back into your courner of the court! Cheers!
Only really have two that are suitable for posting... PING! - whenever you hit someone with the shuttle, especially from a net kill. TAXI! - when you send someone the wrong way with a deceptive shot. Some opponents may not appreciate either one though lol.
Nice Shot ! - when you're too lazy to reach for the shuttle. By now you should have figured out my playing style.
An exprexion used by me and some players (that sometimes play some rounds of golf as well, that is where the expression originates ) is when a shot is way out usually a push or block that goes long behind the baseline (couldd also be used on shots far out on the sides , asd long as they are far out ) is asking "Did you find it?" when the other player/s runs of to get the shuttle, that landed out /Twobeer
Out loud.. ..you should yell out: PAR!!!!... This is not a slang, but as for me, usually when my (doubles) opponents are leading (by a sizeable margin) or on the brink of finishing the game/match, i'll just tell them : FINISH IT!!! ..
^^When you scream it out loud..^^ ..there's barely any difference between those 2 words...Go, test and yell it out loud now to hear any difference..
