as the subject line stated, would you prefer to play on a court with poor/dim lighting or bright?

I would choose poor/dim. Some of my friends prefer bright because they have poor vision. Me too, I have poor vision but I feel more comfortable with dimmer light. :)

I would rather play in soft, difused lighting than in spotlighted setting. You eyes get temporary blinded and you can see the shuttle coming down on you. That really sucks.

Do what we used to do. Knock out a few of the lights in the bright setting to lower the luminsence. Good practice for accuracy and force. :D :D

lol, too bad we are not allow to do that, else, we will need to pay for the replacement of the bulbs or the club will ban us from playing there anymore.

Perhaps you can wear sun glasses or colored protective eye-wears.

The gym I practice in is majorly used as a basketball court. Therefore, the light is kinda bright there. A lot of ppl complained that they can't see the shuttle very clearly. The way I deal with it, is to buy the yellow ones... :p

Play w/ colored glasses on, it's not just a fashion statement but quite good when you are playing in a too well-lit gym. :D I rather play in a bright place since it's better to not be able to see the shuttle sometime vs. not be able to see a shuttle at all in a dim-lit gym.

what do you mean no choice? i see two choices there. ;)

in real life though, it usually is no choice. either i go play in the gym with whatever light, or stay at home and suffer badminton withdrawl...

Well at the gym I play at on wednesday, the middle court is well-lit, in fact too well lit that if you look up when you are standing at the middle line in the back court, it's like staring at the sun. However, if you play at the two side courts, half the court is lit while the other is very dimly lit so you got that effect where as the shuttle travel from light to darkness and vice versa, you lose sight of the shuttle for a split second. Now there is a fun place to play.
