If you have an address + name of a person + telephone number, is there a huge risk for identity theft? If let's say someone unauthorised managed to read it, will that info be in danger of being used against me? All that person managed to glance was just my Name (not fulll just first and surname) Address (Australian one) Telephoen number (Australian one) Is there anyway such info can be misused? Just wondering.
Identity theft really sucks. I went through this about 5 years ago. Someone got my social insurance number and date of birth. Several banks and credit card companies were approached and all but one rejected the fradulent applications (Thanks Citibank). Luckily one of the targeted banks was my own. They informed me before any more damage could be done. It was a huge pain to get everything straightened out. It was a couple years before the collection agencies finally gave up. (amazing what a calming effect a letter from your lawyer has on a collection agency) Moral of the story, protect your personal info.
Simple information like that reallly cant be used for much. Unless they get your personal banking details or finance numbers.....or credit card numbers along with everything than they cant do anything significant. To pull off fraud you have to put in a lot of effort so thieves who havnt got everything down to the last detail are wasting their time. I wouldnt worry about it mate just keep your credit cards and bank account details to yourself
Cheers mate. Was just a bit worried... a friend gave me the worse situation outcome and was a bit paranoid. But yea thanks a lot guys. Nah they didn't get any credit card info or banking details. Just those 3 so I was wondering how bad it would be. Cheers again guys
U know what, those Database administrators or sys admin are the ones who have access to data mostly. Unless the banks controls it well. Millions of records are exposed.
You see right, pretty sure I have a legal case against them if my identity was stolen via that way... potentially huge payout too I'm thinking.
Dude, if you had any sensitive info in there, call Transunion and Equifax (the two major credit rating agencies in Canada). Obviously you cancelled any credit cards and changed your bank card numbers.
i only had driver license, healthcare, and one credit card on that wallet. Yes, i replaced the card card.
Mmmmm not really lol. Most companies who have your personal information have obtained it one way or another through you and with your approval. Ever entered a competition?? orrrrr joined a club of somesort?? There are thousands of things everyday people do where they give their personal details out to a company. 9 out of 10 times these companys have fineprint which cover their backsides in cases where identity theft occurs through them. So unless you have amazing lawyers and are willing to spend big to pursue something like that then i dont like your chances lol. And i would not to be your lawyers in that case because there would be an astonishing amount of work theyd have to do to put together a solid case. but i wouldn't even worry mate!!! the chances of identity theft in your case i would rate as sooooooo low its not worth blinking at.
yea thanks guys. Appreciate it. Helps me sleep at night slightly more since I doubt they can withdraw money from my poker accounts and other stuff. Thanks again
