I'm in the US (Seattle, Washington) and I'm looking to buy some stuff from mybadmintonstore/badmintonshoponline/shuttlehouse, and I've read that there are customs to deal with when shipping stuff from overseas.
Could someone please explain to me the procedures to dealing with customs?
(the customs website is very confusing)
Does standard air mail vs courier shipping/EMS/Speedpost change the customs procedures?
Are there any extra costs with going with one or the other besides the slightly higher rate for courier (I've heard courier also has some cost for some agent to take care of customs forms and have the package forwarded to your house)
And approximately how much are the customs duties (in percent)?

Just in case its necessary, I generally don't plan to order anything over USD 500

I ordered from badmintonshoponline and shuttlehouse before. As long as the declared value is less than the limit, you don't have to worry about custom. I forgot the limit, I think it's 10,000. Just a few hundred dollars should be ok.

So there's no customs duties at all if i'm under the limit?
    Or any paperwork?
Its shipped to my house just like if i order something off amazon (besides taking longer and costing more)?

You don't have to worry about the limit - I doubt you would literally order something that is 10K in goods, that where customs would likely come in.

I've personally ordered stuff other than badminton which is worth at least a few thousand to Seattle, no problem with customs.

Just to clarifty to answer your questions. No customs/duties at all. No worries about paper work, the shipper would of already put the information on the package for customs to see if they choose to.
