CCC to give tips for playing better Badminton during our Social Sessions

Hi CCCers,

Players have been making requests for me to give info on how to play better Badminton. Because of our current lower attendances at our Friday Socials at Waverley, we can afford to spare one court for 30 minutes for this activity.

We shall use Court No.4 (furthest from the entrance) for giving tips. And the period shall be from 9:00pm to 9:30pm. This should allow late comers to participate in it.

Please do not think 'Giving Tips' is 'Coaching'.

Our 'CCC CATS (Coaching And Training Session)' and/or 'Private Group/Individual Coaching' are more structured and they give more details. More activities are included, like doing Stroke Drills and doing Footwork Exercises. And working on Match Tactics.

'Giving Tips' should be taken as 'Giving Info'. For example;
* What is the best selection of shots to play during a rally?
* What is considered as a good shot (not necessarily the winning shot)?
* What are good rackets, strings, grips, shoes, socks, clothing, etc... to use?
* Why are our smashes not steep, clears not deep, netplay not effective?
* Where to stand to cover the court during a rally when playing Doubles?
* How to maintain good/correct balance when moving on the court?
* How to prevent injuries?
* etc, ......

We start this thread so that all CCCers can be informed of this activity (from our CCC Site at Badminton Central). And perhaps, more discussions and more requests can be put forward.

Some have suggested to have this activity at all our CCC Social Sessions.

Yes, this can be done if our CCCers are interested, and willing to spare some time from 'active' playing to 'less active' gaining knowledge

Email Question: Is this activity organised for all our CCC Social Sessions at all our different CCC Venues?

Answer: Yes, this can be done. If there is an expression of interest, then CCC will do it.

Our first 'Tips/Info Segment' was conducted on Friday, 04-Sep-2009, at our Social Games night at Waverley. We had 8 keen CCCers attending it.

Tips/Info given: Where to stand to cover the court during a rally when playing Level Doubles.

Next Friday, 11-Sep-2009, we shall give tips on:
What is the best selection of shots to play during a rally in a Level Doubles game (and why?)
