sorry, I misremebered you were the one who is a professional sport photographer using 1DMKIII that I saw in another thread, but I couldn't find it now.
Totally agreed with the Canon focusing problem, it seems to be better with lastest model, i.e. 5DMKII is much better than 30D.

you may consider me as the pro.

spending too much previously, now just get what i want is enough.
not going to spend USD5-7k and not earning back with those equipment.
decent good capable camera + few lenses are more than enough for enthusiast.

^^New or used??..^^
..if either, you are also getting ripped off.
I can get that kit for less than $1300 (before shipping to your country).

yes, sigma is faster, much faster. but, it is not as sharp as tamron. from 135 till 200mm, it performs poorly. after think for a while, getting a 200mm f/2.8 and not performing, kind of bad idea. furthermore what if added with 1.4 or 1.7X teleconverter?
is up to individual, either pick good performer or good AF. want both world plus VR, get the Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 at 2X ++ price.

nikon's new 70-200 VR2 is coming out this month so you might be able to get a cheaper 70-200 VR1 soon.

I got myself the D90+18-105 lens (Complete set at slightly more than US$1k).
Considering to buy 50mm lens after some recommendation from my friend.

The 50mm lens is quite cheap (around US$100) here. That is one primary reason I am considering it also as my friend uses it often to take close-up pics.
