Yonex Towel Grips

It sounds to me that you have applied the towel grip directly onto the original grip, hence adding a lot more weight to the handle and butt end causing the head heaviness to "theoretically disappear". You could try redoing the grip directly onto the wooden handle (you'll have to remove the orginal grip first of course, and maybe add a layer of water proof tape. Medical tape works awesome).

I am hoping the AC404 is softer and cushier than the AC402 though.

You could apply it over the original grip but it might get too thick and add too much weight at the bottom so your racket becomes less head heavy/more head light. I tried applying towel grip on top of original grip and found it too thick. Ended up removing original grip and redoing it.

Do most people remove the original grip to apply the towel grip then?

I think so. At least where im at.

I always remove the original grip.
