Just got my latest Yonex racquet today. Very old unsold stock.. reckon more than 30 years old at least. Still have the plastic wrap over the handle and unstrung but still in superb condition. A bit of yellowing and browning with age which is only natural with age. Weighs a hefty 122-123 gms with my digital scale. Head weight and grip size is M-G4. Frame technology 'Multiply Laminated', 'Slim Stainless Shaft'.
That was the last wooden racquet in store and not offered to the public. They told me to call them back in a few days time for them to check their warehouse if there were anymore left lying around. However, they have an unstrung Isometric 250 Long in 2UG4 with the old YY logo similar to this but I didn't buy it. I guess that racquet must definitely be more than 10 years old but in excellent brand new condition. Wonder how much its worth?!?
Wooden racket as i reckon,wont worth that much,unlike the boron series.In china,some ppl r still selling it at around 120usd.Brand new.But i dont know about this B9100 though.Anyway,nice collection though!
Nice find aramistuscany. Nothing compares to owning an old racquet. I suggest you placed it on a glassed cabinet with lights.
Yea and also fumigate my place and keep the termites away from the wood. I believe the legendary Rudy Hartono used this racquet model and the pink B-9000 and I think also the black B-9300 Carbonex 3 in the All England Open some 30-40 odd years ago.
Iv played with those in the olden days. At that time they didn't feel heavy as there was no better, and the tension was limited too. But we played. AND everyone was on an equal footing with similar rackets.

Well, that made you a badminton freak. I am only holding 1 racket in my bag to all my game and that's all I have in my "collection". You must have a cosey room to house all your collection. Given a chance, you should post a picture of that and let us drool.
Oh my modest 'collection' cannot be compared to what some folks have here . Their collection is something you can really drool over .
For those who have enquired about the wood racquets.. I have checked with them today but they have confirmed they do not have any more of them. Apparently a few months back they still have a couple of pieces but probably sold off over time. What old racquet is left is the (green) Isometric 250 Long 2UG5. Just confirmed today its a 2UG5 instead of a 2UG4 mentioned in my earlier post.
Just saw the 1974 All England Open Men Singles Finals again between Rudy Hartono and Punch Gunalan the other day. Rudy was using this wooden racquet Yonex B-9100 Slim Stainless and Punch was using the Carlton 3.7 steel racket. Both their smashes sounded powerful and loud. The good old days of classic badminton.
Not sure why you took pictures with it inside a brand new yonex plastic bag that obviously wasn't the original bag... but either way, cool racquet.
This classic wood racquet is not for playing. It is for display and bought as a collectible . If I can play the old classic style of badminton like Rudy Hartono, my badminton skill will be so much better than what I am playing now. The old classic style is the precursor/foundation is how the game is being played today.
