True, you can't determine how good you are by the number of tournaments you entered.

But the question is how many you HAVE WON. But that also doesn't really reflect on how good you actually are. Because depending on which country you're in, for example a Singaporean player may win alot of local tournaments but if he goes to Indonesia or China, I doubt he will win over there. Different countries, different standards. Sad but true!

You people are so humble! I'm in the 10-20 range. One District meet (representing my school), one Unit meet (representing Binan, Laguna), approx 8 office tourneys, and approx 5 to 7 club tourneys and sponsored tourneys.

But I've also had a couple of loses. In the office, I'm in level A. But outside, I'm usually in B or C. This year, I want to experience playing in a higher level, even if I lose. But I need to find a really good partner.

well i fall into the 20+ and the tournaments range from all levels from local ones to junior ones and even international ones, reached finals a decent number of times but well one of these days ill have to pull it off silver and bronze arnt something i want to get use to. i have also have my cases of 1st round losses too though so theres both sides of the spectrum.

but i dont really see how it says how good you are well i mean yeah if somebody wins tournaments then there more than likley pretty good but also depends on level of the tournament too.

I have got many badminton friends thinking and bragging about how good they were but still ate the humble pie. I'm from Malysia, and a friend of mine who is a national backup player once told me that on one of his china tour he was embarassingly well beaten by some trainees (who are not even considered as state level yet) from the chinese camp.

Unless you are a pro. who makes a living out of the game, you need not know how good you are. The more appropriate question to ask if you are a casual or social player would be how much you enjoy the game and the company of your fellow buddies; be they good or bad.

Come to think of it. I fall to the 20+ range. Anyways, I just want to emphasize that the number of tournaments won is not a good basis of how good a player you are. Like what BCers are saying, the level of play depends on the country, or let's just say "the crowd". The tourneys I joined are just local events. National players are not allowed to join. Varsities are automatically leveled A. Thus, that lowers the level of play, per se.

The title of this thread should be changed to "How many tournaments have you won" instead of "How good are you".

    Big fat zero for me

you guys are really too humble...national level compys (even if full time national players are not allowed) are pretty tough i'd say...
